I don’t like hyperbolizing and saying that WoW’s “being ruined” by singular things in it I don’t like, but I do feel at least certain aspects of the game are kinda being ruined by all the recent trading post recolor mounts and the shop brutosaur. My girlfriend and I farmed gold quite a bit in BfA to get the original brutosaur, which I see has now been essentially invalidated (and for a way cheaper price!) in the shop. On top of that, I’ve watched as one by one, mounts that were tied to extensive PvE/zone achievements or farms have shown up in the trading post, often with better or comparably cool color schemes (crab, SL jellyfish, SL “hand” mount).
It seems like a slap in the face to people who did it legitimately and enjoy that kind of content. I don’t see any gladiator mounts or AotC mounts being recycled in the trading post/cash shop (despite being able to pay less than 100k most of the time to have a guild kill the final boss and give the AotC to you), so why the raw treatment of open-world prestige mounts? I wouldn’t mind the brutosaur being brought back, if only for a limited time, so long as it was made just as hard to get as it was originally. It’s not that I don’t want people to have it, only for them to do what I did for it. What gives with this trend? If it’s just going to continue, I don’t think it’s good for the game, and I certainly won’t be trying very hard for these kinds of things in the future.
big words but what are you actually saying? don’t be mean? guy wasted his life farming garbage. now someone got garbage for cheaper. it’s pathetic that he’s upset and he should feel pathetic about it.
Well, then I say let us get the elite PvP appearances from past seasons on the trading post, and the glad and AotC mounts. Those people have had an even longer run with that stuff, right?
I suppose what I’m really asking for is consistency rather than to “be special.” Why does only one side of the game get this treatment with the trading post/cash shop?
Why assume I’m only complaining about it because you think I’m being stupid? I think it’s legitimately bad for the game to make it so that the goals we can chase stop mattering or requiring us to do anything to reach them.
As someone who grinded for the gold in bfa for the og long boi, I don’t mind. This one is anniversary themed, and has a mailbox with it which is nice so I can have a mailbox with me at all times. The long boi wasn’t the same as a glad or aotc mount.
I’ll never understand all of the self-righteous crying about mounts being sold on the store. Don’t like it, don’t buy it. Achievement mounts aren’t being used, so what is the issue?
Because open world meta achievements aren’t prestige-specific achievements the same way. Regardless though, you are complaining about recolours. Recolours have always been fair game, and recolours appear repeatedly on it.
So you are at best misunderstanding how Feat of Strength achievements are treated, and also not understanding the specifics that Blizzard runs the game by. Recolours have always been fair game since they aren’t the same item as another unavailable item.
The brutosaur is bad for the game but not for any of the reasons you mentioned. You are genuinely just wrong and haven’t understood how these achievements work. This is also assuming you are saying the things you have said in good faith but ignorance.
One person being mean to you in order to rile you up is not an argument to want Blizzard to backtrack on their promises. Folks get angry all the time whenever they change their mind about stuff (promises or no promises), so the idea of wanting Blizzard to break promises on purpose is at best extremely stupid.
Just ignore people who say “you have had your fun with it” because that is at best an emotional argument based on ignorance and complete disregard for the game’s overall health.
Because of promises. That’s literally all there is to it.
Folks should want Blizzard to uphold what they promise, so… that’s the reason for it. There’s no such promise with a lot of open world content, not all, but a lot of it.
Again, they mattered for four years. You had your reward and felt special for a significant amount of time. Do you think people who got invincible back when the raid was relevant are upset that people are just farming for it in 15 minutes nowadays?
You’re refusing to accept the fact that what you had was special was for a substantial amount of time. Nothing lasts forever.
Re the new bruto, it really wouldn’t have mattered if it had the same NPCs as the original bruto. But the fact that blizz just straight up made it an objective upgrade by giving it a mailbox is I think the line that they crossed.
A reskin is fine. But a flat out upgrade? That does indeed seem like a slap in da face moment to OG bruto owners.
