PvE Items in 8.2 Patch Notes

Probably in effect when 8.2 patch hits.

  • Void Stone’s absorption ability has been reduced by 30% for healers and 60% for non-healers in PvP.
  • Diamond-Laced Refracting Prism personal absorption shield has been reduced by 30% for tank specializations and 60% for non-tank specializations in PvP.
  • Abyssal Speaker’s Gauntlets absorption shield is now reduced by 80% in PvP (was 66%).
  • Trident of the Deep Ocean absorption shield is now reduced by 75% in PvP (was 50%).
  • Mindthief’s Eldritch Clasp healing and self-damage effect is now reduced by 50% in PvP.
    • Developers’ note: Several Crucible of Storms raid items had a significant impact on the PvP meta in Season 2. We believe that raid items in PvP can be a meaningful source of gameplay variety that contribute to each season feeling a bit different than ones before it. Due to the nature of our PvP scaling system, which helps make PvP more accessible for more players, means the effects of these items will remain relevant longer than we’d like. Therefore, we’re reducing the effectiveness of these items in the new patch so players can feel good about transitioning to new items they acquire in Season 3.
  • Horde and Alliance Glider Kits now have a prideful new look.
  • All racial abilities that share a cooldown with Honorable Medallion now only display corresponding information when the talent is selected.

Also, Disc Priest got slight buffs.

Void stone nerfed by 30% and the others nerfed harder than before, good changes but there’s no good reason they couldn’t have been hotfixed months ago

lol so they are nerfing them only so they aren’t still good for S3 because scaling is aids. Also no harbinger’s nerf. Just lol.

Definitely a big yikes on no nerf to Harbingers.
I seriously hope that they hotfix the new raid items ASAP, too.
I’m ok with them monitoring it for a week or even two.
They cannot repeat what happened in season 2.

yup exactly

They didn’t nerf them for balance reasons. They nerfed them so people will consider using new items from Season 3. I guess it might look bad if players keep using Season 2 raid gear because it’s still bis.

In fact, they thought PvE raid gear added meaningful gameplay variety to PvP.

Yeah, Venruki was showing the new items that have absorbs again. They’re only nerfing this because the gear is irrelevant. The new gear will go untouched until the season ends as usual.

Why do they keep nerfing stuff deliberatley after theyre relevant?

They did it to prism right before introducing cos gear

New tier up and they nerf cos before introducing new stuff

Lol

It’s almost like there should be new trinkets and items added to PvP as well to make games more exciting and different

With I don’t know… a vendor of some sort… yeah…yeah… maybe one that sells gear for some form of a point system. We could call it Conquest Points.

Ahhh… it’ll never work. Should try it in PvE first, since it’s never been done before, then never mention it again to PvPers.

Is a 30% nerf to void stone enough? Still seems BIS for any healer.

It’s a damn shame that these nerfs aren’t representative of a shift in philosophy. I can’t imagine being the idiot in charge that thinks BiS gear should come from content other than what you’re playing as opposed to it just being a decent way to get your foot in the door.

CoS gear should be helping PvEers get to Challenger/Rival, there’s no excuse for it dominating the higher brackets.

Funny how the tables are almost never turned to where PvEers are expected to PvP, and even just doing 2 bgs over the course of an entire expansion for a stupid Legendary was enough to set off sirens.

VS already lost a ton of value when the reproc bug got fixed. Between this nerf and access to an overall higher iLevel of gear, it’ll phase out pretty quick I think.

So on live my 405 Prism was maxing at 57k absorb, on test the same trinket was absorbing 110k. So it going from 60% reduction instead of 50% reduction like it currently is accept items and trinkets will scale better… it’s still a buff lol.

Is the test realm up with the 8.2 release build?
Could still not be implemented.

It’s possible they have tweaked stuff. I tested it last Friday and those were the values I got. I’ll have a gander at it again tonight when I get home

Wait until they gate bis gear behind pet battles…

f that, i can only take so much
