He’s being facetious.
Oh, I know exactly what he is talking about.
He is referencing that one time where Ion said in a Q & A that earning a currency and looking for a place to spend it isn’t “clear” for someone looking to get into PvP.
I’d argue that there are more people playing this game for one feature (pve or pvp) than there are people that enjoy more than one. And alienating people that min/max (in either) basicly by forcing them to do content that isn’t in their branch of pvp or pve have lost them more players than made players happy. Basicly, I disagree with Ion philosphies mostly.
If gear was compartmented, then you’d have people with the options at multiple interesting progression. Than now having to think of how everything fits together and could affect your progression for only one content that you really like to push and how bad of a time you’ll have doing content that you dislike.
Why do you need ilvl 440 gear in PVP again? oh right…you don’t. You aren’t attempting Mythic Azshara or M+15 challenges. Your just killing players.
Yes we do. We need gear that is competitive with PvE gear. Not for PvE gear to be mandatory in every situation.
Correct, that is what PvP is.
Player vs Player.
Actually you do, if they have that 440 gear too.
I can’t think of many games where you can solely do only the one thing you truly enjoy in that game and be successful. I think a lot of the gripe about the gear issue stems from people who mainly random BG and dabble in arena below 2100. The System is most beneficial to those people who do all forms of content. I don’t think this is inherently a bad thing. Could they make it a bit better and more intuitive? Absolutely, however I don’t have a solution and I know vendors are not the answer, unless you placed vendors for all forms of content.
The solution is PvP gear with resilience (just like in the old days)
This way both forms of gear are distinct and PvErs would be incentivized from grinding PvP for PvE gear.
Vendors won’t work now because gear isn’t distinct.
Actually, I have a solution. I posted it in the Arena forums a few days ago.
Yes it does involve vendors.
Because killing other players for a few minutes isn’t the same as lore driven story and trying to coordinate 20-30 people.
All iterations of wow, even classic
100 dollars says you haven’t ever participated in a rated bg.
There are many games like that that separate pvp and pve gearing xd Wow reward system is unique to the genre and more close to phone games with titanforging.
Yes the system have benefits for people doing multiple content WILLINGLY. The problem is that it creates problems for people that want to min/max. And those people if they can’t min/max in this game will just play another. I don’t see how the benefits outweight the problems. And a game that would separate pvp from pve makes it way easier to balance. How many pve stuff has been nerfed to the ground for good reasons?
And I disagree about that, you should rejoice that pvp gets their vendor. There is no negative to it to let people choose how they can progress vs rng. There is only negative for wow devs, because that means people will have a reachable goal and that would be MADNESS. When they did it with M+ and residuum, we can see the half-hearted approach, people wanted vendor so they gave them but you shall only buy a random piece or you have to overbuy by lot xd Would have been too simple to simply be able to buy the piece you want for a static reasonable price.
just bring back warlords in combat gear scaling , it made it fair for both sides.
Warlord system for pvp was genius. I feel people liked the pvp in that expansion the best and its pvp vendors. But let’s not talk about Ashran.
Definitely not, WoD was the beginning of pruning. And also 96% of PvP’ers had gone ally due to EMFH.
Yes most definitely.
Agreed.
Oh yea I remember the human racial. Well that was an interesting way to balance Horde and Alliance in pvp at least, even if it was grossly overpowered.
That’s a copout. WoD did the PvP gearing system damn near perfect with the ilvl scaling.
It wasn’t balanced at all. So many PvP’ers who even prefered to play Horde went Ally because being able to use 2 DPS trinkets in PvP at the same time is insanely OP.
I can think of some. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.
I was able to only PvP in each of those expansions and still get gladiator without an issue.
