exactly. silver dragon border on a rare mob gets my dopamine, serotonin and endorphins all tangled up into a giant brain party. without it i am nothing.

Rarescanner is one of the most popular WoW addons at 28 million downloads. Silver Dragon is another one that is very popular at 12 million downloads. So yes, many people use them (“everyone” is hyperbole). I stand by what I said and removing the silver dragon is not a big deal at all.
They remove that, yet they won’t remove things players keep asking to be removed.
I much prefer the silver dragon. The fact they went away from the old elite border design (gold dragon with wings) in favor of re-using the old silver dragon as the new elite border (gold dragon without wings) especially bugs me. I’m so used to that shape always being a rare since there is no example of a mob in the current live game that uses a gold dragon border without wings.
If the intent is truly some form of accessibility measure, they should keep the original approach and also attach this new icon they’ve made. The difference between elites and rare elites was also a really cool and obvious thing (assuming no color blindness, anyway) and now that feeling is also gone.
It doesn’t really matter if addons made it easier for people or not. Change for the sake of change is rarely a good use of dev time.

they could have just moved the silver dragon to the other side of the portrait so that rare elites could have both gold and silver dragons.

If Blizz are getting rid of the silver plate maybe they could add a massive red arrow that can be seen anywhere in the zone that bobs up and down over a rare.
