I find the lag is only noticeable during looting. I have done mythic+ without noticing the group leader was from an OCE realm until we looted the chest.
I do think that in the case of randoms, the group lead should go to a player who is not from an OCE realm, since it doesn’t matter who is the lead.
I find it funny how everytime these threads pops up, it is always a US player, acting like it is the end of the world. But yet, us Oceanics never complained when we had to deal with it all the time.
Not wrong. People repeatedly tell you that a high world latency (and by that I mean 4 figure latency) is not caused by playing on an Oceanic lead group. Not sure how many times we have to say that.
And the fact that you have a low home ms makes it even more obvious its some sort of internet issue.
And 10,000 is so ridiculous that even you should realise we aren’t on the moon.
In that case I suggest to make a post on the Technical Support forum when that occurs. They can help you track down the problem.
It’s ironic that the US gets matched with OCE players who have over double the ping that the EU does… I mean, if basic logic were followed, then wouldn’t it make sense for the EU and US to be on a matchmaker instead? Like, 110ms is bad, yeah… But how is 220ms any better?
Technically OCE could match with the two other regions just fine: Korea and Taiwan…
It was not my internet. Like I said I checked my connection and everything was fine. It was because the entire guild was OCE and their abilities are being sent and registered by my gateway because Blizzard forces each spell of every player to be registered by each individual player’s PC and connection. Since I live in South Florida, each one of those spells casted by the 19 other players in the party that were OCE was like a massive ddos to my game. The moment I left and joined a heroic NA raid, my connection went back to normal and had zero issues. It’s a problem with OCE. I have nothing against OCE players but I don’t want to have my gaming experience ruined by this anymore.
You know when I connect to the US Servers, I am connecting to the actual US Servers that are hosted in Chicago or Los Angeles or where ever they host the US Servers. I am not connecting to Little Tims dial up connection in New York. And it is the same, when sharding or joining an Oceanic Server, you’re connecting to the Oceanic Servers that are hosted in Sydney. If you’re experiencing unplayable latency, then it usually actually comes down to your own connection, not Blizzard’s, not mine, not other Oceanic Players.
Been playing for 15 years, and dealt with 200-300ms ping due to US server clusters for a majority of it. Even when OCE servers were introduced, I still dealt with those pings in raids and dungeons.
It’s amazing how entitled and pissy Americans get when they have to deal with something that doesn’t give them 100% exclusive rights and control. American WoW players are like WWE fans, they whine and complain about having to get up at 5am for this year’s Elimination Chamber event (In Perth Australia) when the rest of the world has to get up at 7 am on a work day to watch an event in America. Same with WoW, Americans complain about having to deal with 200+ms pings when having an Australian in the group.
Keep showing that closed-minded entitlement America, the world “loves” you for it.
Considering I’m Australian and play on US servers and not the OCE ones, yet only get around 200-250ms, which is very playable. If your ping is spiking up to 2600ms, then it sounds like more a problem on your end, otherwise us OCE players would be having the same issues.
I have noticed a lot more NA players getting huge lag spikes to oceanic instance servers, seen it happen quite a few times since Christmas. Something definitely has gone wrong somewhere in the routing.
I dunno about this… Once we start tagging ethnicities we’re opening a door, sure we can close it, but some doors are best left locked and unopened. Especially considering the “inclusive” nature I’ve seen displayed by other members of the community.
BUT if we do, then I am voting for an “Elf Lover” tag for anyone with an elf alt. But make it miserable so they don’t wear it with pride.
Computer doesnt mean anything. I have a new computer with strong video card to where I get 60-70fps on high settings. Ill jump in a LFR and watch my world ping jump up to 2000 where I cant do anything. Meanwhile, my home ping is like 30
