Aww, now I know Australia does have penguins (saw a cute little feature on a kids morning show) but this was a totally missed opportunity to say Kangeroo!
Those are our rides actually. I was gonna say Emu, but then the world will look at us again over the Emu Wars we had here. So, Penguins was the next best thing, after seeing a story on the news last night.
apologies, I’m thinking of latin american servers, bit of a brain fart. Running on like 5 hours of sleep in the last 50 hours
regardless, I don’t think I’ve had any major ping issues when playing with any of the OCE servers, at least none that would make the game unplayable.
This is true. But it is way too much brain work for players who want the game to be reworked so they won’t have to look at that list a few times.
I don’t raid. The only time I notice the group leader is from an OCE realm is when I’m looting something. That loot window is slow.
Back when I used to play retail I had to make a list with all the oce servers to “avoid” due to lag issues. Nothing personal against OCE folks… it’s technology and living a bit too far away…
Bump… lol
Just the other day I had the misfortune of getting “sharded with” OCE players during a random Alterac Valley BG match and, my god I couldn’t do anything
We’re talking 5000+ ms on average and when I pushed any ability/button it literally took a good 13-15 seconds to “go off” from when I physically pushed the key on my keyboard. It was bad, like… really bad
I also get huge spikes like that as well. It sucks to feel like a burden to the group. I can run many dungeons without an issue and hop into one and all of a sudden I have thousand ms.
That sounds more like a your internet issue, and not OCE/Blizzard problem.
I mean, lets look at the facts:
United States, ranked 7th on fastest speeds, according to SpeedTest
https://www.speedtest.net/global-index
Australia, rank 95th on fastest speeds.
On average, an Australian sharding with a NA person or playing on NA realm will average between 200-300ms. If you are getting 5000ms, that is entirely a “you” problem.
Wrong
My “home” ms stayed pretty consistent at around 35-40 ms throughout the entire AV match… but my “world” ms was constantly pegged at 5000+ and sometimes even creeped up into the low 10,000’s (such as “world ms: 12736” that I briefly observed when glancing over). I also saw a pug claim his world ms was in excess of “26,500” in the chatbox - so clearly other players were suffering as well
I also had Chrome open in the background with multiple tabs running, including a Youtube “Q&A livestream” and the Youtube livestream had absolutely 0 lag - not a single hiccup in the livestream connection while listening to that
It was clearly something specifically isolated to WoW causing the insane ingame lag… for example, somehow getting teleported into an “OCE shard” (I’m guessing that’s what happened anyways)
So, you experience server lag. That isn’t caused from Oceanic players.
Thats because you dont know what you are talking about. If the group leader is OCE and you are in America, you are gonna experience horrible lag in instances.
.
If an OCE joins your party, there generally isnt an issue.
.
The game seems to create the location of the instance based upon the group leaders server group.
It’s much easier when it’s your baseline imo, when I was growing up in Aus my toaster got like 20 fps and 200-300ms, but I played much better with that than when I moved to America. At least for the first week or two lol
Region Filter. It adds a tag to each group based on where the leader’s server is located.
NA - North America
BR - Brazil
OCE - Oceanic
LA - Latin America
If your ping is 2600 its you not us.
We play with US all the time and even with Australias well known joke of an internet infrastructure I have never seen past 200ms max, usually around 150ms, when playing with US players. Not enough that it ever matters - this is an MMO not a competitive FPS.
How many world firsts do they have?
you can just memorize the OCE servers.
there aren’t many of them:
the most common ones are Frostmourne and Barthilas.
Realistically, I’m not a fan of anything that takes you out of the game and reminds you that you’re playing a game. If something like this existed, it’d have to be a toggle, and not something that was inherently switched on for players.
I think immersion is more important, even though I know latency issues will probably ruin a persons enjoyment of the game.
On the west coast. Never had a single issue with latency Except when everyone was having it at the same time. Maybe something down in Fla is broken???
Us oce players had to put up with US lag for years. 200ms is not that bad.
You aren’t doing high enough content to notice it.
There are already weak auras that do this.
