This is the only way to save PvP - put in the pvp gear that you can buy from faction vendors that only has rep requirements (honored rep). An example of a piece of gear like this is “Kodohide Robe” sold by a vendor in Nagrand and which requires Honored reputation with Cenarion Expedition to purchase.
Here’s the problem: PvP gear is OP as shet - its seriously ridiculous… this gear has insane amounts of stamina and armor on it, has a bunch of resilience, and the primary battle stats are still pretty damn high on all of it. So your character’s offensive strength is close to what it would be in pre-bis but you also have 5-8k more effective health in the pvp gear.
So if you’re in arena and the other team has this OP gear and you don’t… well good luck… they could be terrible but as long as they could neckbeard the honor grind (or if they got super lucky and played for 10 hours on day 1 of prepatch), they’ll beat you.
Make it easy to get starting pvp gear - make arena actually a competition based around skill. The honor grind (especially for horde) is literally insane - The honor gear pieces are about 120k in total for all of them. As queue times rise horde are seeing their honor gains drop under 1k honor per hour.
People used to be against this but this was before the 80% honor nerf (which will be a 90% nerf again soon). I’ve played a lot and I’m still not even close to 75k honor… I had an easier time ranking to 11 in classic vanilla than grinding this OP pvp gear… this grind is r13/14 levels of poopsocking.
Stop making up reasons why you don’t have honor cap/marks. I’ve been lazily grinding since last Friday, and I’m at 40k honor, with 57/72/57 WSG/AB/AV marks.
? I’ve been grinding a ton and I’m about 40k honor too. What you call lazily grinding must be pretty hardcore. Not everyone casually grinds for 6 hours a day bro. And even so on that pace you still have 2 more weeks of this hardcore grinding before you can get all your honor gear.
EDIT: actually with queue times increasing you’ll probably need to go for closer to 3 weeks. And that’s not counting the time it will take you to get to level 70.
I’ve played since the original DM patch in vanilla, I know exactly what the horde honor grind is like. Too many people reroll horde, hoping to get an easy ride in PvP, via broken racials. Only to find out that following the crowd damned them to hour long queues, and getting stomped out by alliance in wildly better gear.
That’s the future you chose, and making arbitrary changes to try and help the larger faction is a silly idea.
??? Dude, I made this tauren druid on day 1 of classic 2 years ago. I didn’t even know what racials were good for pvp. Also can you see my avatar? You should be able to see exalted AB tabard, Lethon hat, and T3 gloves at least… I didn’t reroll horde for arenas jesus.
Not that any of this is even relevant… the fact is the pvp gear is locked behind a r14-esque grind and should be made easier with the reputation gear.
Need to relax. I missed the honor train before it got nerfed. I have been casually premading with my friends and after about 5 days were all honor and mark capped. You’re just making excuses.
Since when is grinding for gear in an MMO a foreign concept?
We maintain about 3k / hr doing wsg as a 10 man. Trust me I wish honor was easier to get but at least we have about a month until the season starts. Alliance
So you want a handout because you don’t want to earn gear?
I get people abused the honor cap but guess what, remember prepatch launch when honor was broken? That’s the honor for a 70 bg, you can expect to earn that amount of honor at 70, you are by no means behind and people are overblowing this whole honor thing like it’s the end of the world if they don’t Immediately have all the gear, relax, you’ll be fine.
I agree. While I should probably be saving up honor on my rogue as it will be my main for TBC, I’ve been doing BGs on my boosted hunter for the LOLs instead. I’m not worried as I’ll catch up eventually. There is no way I’ll ever keep up with the sweaties, so I’m not going to try.
Commenting few months after release but its weird some of the comments here this is probably the reason for such low numbers in TBC, you have people saying “BRO WHY DIDNT U FARM the HONOR BRO YOU MAD!!!” because most people weren’t playing classic still they came back for TBC… Honor reset or rep gear implemented should have 100% happened its a different game TBC is not the same as it was 20 years ago or whatever you got neckbeards pre farming full pvp gear at 1800 right now that are happy, but as soon as people start to catch them in gear they will be right back to 1400 bracket and prob just ragequit… its all the same but giving people such an extreme advantage early PvP season just ruins the game entirely if you cannot see that your blind… No one knew about arena in vanilla and no one was pre farming 75k honor and 100 marks, farming honor right now even with instant ques as horde is brutal and worse then the honor gains at 60 btw.
