I’m hoping to get some clarification here.
I know that you cannot use multiple payment methods to purchase something, such as TWW. That purchase must be all one type of payment (battle.net balance or credit card or Paypal). That makes sense to me.
Here’s my question. It is possible to buy one or two WoW tokens for battle.net balance, add to my battle.net balance from my credit card, and THEN make the TWW purchase with battle.net balance? I’m just trying to save a little money, but I don’t have enough gold to get all of it that way.

You can do that, given the fact it’s just the one payment itself. Just keep in mind you’d need to cover any and all taxes that is applied as well.

I was thinking that was the case, but I put in a ticket to ask this, and got told no. I think the person just didn’t fully read what I was asking.
You don’t even need to involve tokens. You can add any amount to your Battle.net Balance from the Account Management page. There’s an option to enter a custom amount.
Figure out how much you need after tax, then add the needed amount.

If you mean to purchase WoW Tokens for gold, then select the option to convert it to Balance instead of Game Time then add however much more you need to your Balance to cover the cost of the expansion purchase?
Absolutely. The source of the Balance doesn’t need to come from the same place, as long as the method of payment for the product is the same.
As Melaesia mentioned, just make sure to include applicable taxes.

But, part of the thing is I’m trying to defray some of the cost.

Not wise to try and cheat the system.
How is this possibly cheating the system? The game is designed with the ability to turn Tokens into Balance. Also, should said Balance not fully cover your purchase, then you also can fill up the Balance via credit card.
Vrak even acknowledged this works. I have personally done it as well.

Simply that they wish to spend the least amount of CASH in this purchase as possible. By converting gold into Tokens and those Tokens into Balance they can lessen the amount of CASH they have to spend.
Each Token converts into the equivalent of $15 of your local currency’s worth of Balance.
Example using USD:
x1 Token = $15 USD worth of Balance for me
So if I were to purchase the base edition of The War Within (which costs $49.99 USD plus $4.00 USD in tax for total of $53.99 USD) then I would need to convert x3 Tokens into Balance ($45 Balance) and then add at minimum $8.99 USD more via CASH to my Balance total.

Ok I see what you’re saying. I haven’t ever bought tokens with gold before.

That’s not a very nice thing to say. He’s just asking about paying, in part, with game gold.
