Punishing casual/solo players, why?

So why is blizzard going after casuals and solo’s?

The new Torg is specifically designed to be harder on solo players or those who play casually and aren’t BiS. Literally nobody asked for m+ affixes in their solo content. Not a single soul. Torg wasn’t fun before, this is cancerous.

Forced recrafting of the legendaries, same deal, disproportionally affects casuals and solo’s.

And the new KSM… forget all the streamers and simps that love it, I know so many people that really had to work to get it, and most of them don’t even care about the valor/upgrade, they just want the mount. I know some of them feel like 2x the runs probably won’t happen.

I likely won’t have a problem with any of this stuff, beyond the annoyance that things were made 2x difficult for no reason, but it’s really frustrating to see friends who feel like their “endgame” just got moved out of reach.

Hey, at least they can run around opening chests once a day, right? The raid better be good AF or there’s gonna be a massive player loss. We deserve better.

Torments can be cut down with the box of many things and it’s better than the flame and health ones starting on layer 12. 12% of you health every tick is unwinnable.

You don’t need to recraft unless you raid or push really high keys which claiming to be casual I’d assume you don’t. Even then don’t recraft just make the rank 5 in the new slot.

It’s not as bad as it seemed at first. I didn’t get 2 dungeon on tyran week above a 10ish and I still hit 1925 so doing those dungeons at 15 in time which is a normal push anyway for gear during KSM won’t be much more work unless you buy the runs.

If it’s hard it’s literally unplayable.
If it’s easy it’s just a not enjoyable button mash press.
If it encourages you to group up it’s punishing.
If it let’s you solo the entire thing it’s killing the social aspect of the mmo.
If it’s just fine it could be better.
If it’s amazing you’re not enjoy it because they will ruin it later.

I mean, just run the content, you don’t like it? Use the appropriate channels to give a constructive criticism and pray for them to change it. Otherwise you’re putting too much energy into frustration you could prevent.

How do you define Casuals? Casual noobs who cant even run a Normal 5-man dungeon? I am Casual… less play time but not a noob. I am playing M+15 as much as I can.

Torghast layers is base on your gear level. Requires ilevel 195 to beat layer 8 which is not bad.

Soul Ashes will rain on 9.1.

The question is if you will just Solo, why would you need high ilevel gear? You dont do Dungeons. You dont do Raids. Do you need ilevel 235 legendary to kill mobs from World Quest? Do you need ilevel 235 Legendary to kill Molten Core Vanilla Ragnaros? And why are you making ilevel 235 for your army of alts? Your Main is not even doing endgame. Why make ilevel 235 for alts?

To me, those solo players would just need ilevel 190 or 210 legendary. That’s it.

If Solo players want higher ilevel gear, they need to do Dungeons.

Because if you’re not a mythic raid logger, you’re playing the game wrong and should be stopped.

High achievers like to call themselves “casuals” because they no longer spend the excessive amounts of time they spent getting up to where they are. And they like to call other players slurs because they’re sure that if they started playing yesterday, THEY would already have ksm and belong to a raiding guild that is going to put them on the team. What’s wrong with those worthless scum baddies that they can’t be mythic raiding the day after they learned to move their characters across the screen?

And when you’re a high achiever calling yourself a “casual”, you get to pretend to speak for people you have nothing whatever in common with and pass judgment on grandma for being old and a failure at gaming who should be forced out of the game.

No-one who runs M15+ is a “casual”. Casual is not just about time invested, it’s about attitude and approach to the game – being competitive in attitude and hardcore about the game makes you not a casual, even if you limit your hours.

I’ve literally had no problems with Torghast as a solo player since the update. My runs have been smooth, and I’ve been enjoying getting tower knowledge that I can then invest into making my runs even better. I’m actually looking forward to when I finally unlock the adamant vaults.

You can’t blame Blizzard for your own ineptitude or other people’s ineptitude. Torghast is no more difficult now than it was before.

What’s wrong with Torghast?

You can perform well even as a casual.

Bear in mind that the amount of ‘stuff’ you get even as a 1 or no star completion is more than enough to collect and build up for making your legendary.

I recently rerolled to Shadow Priest and honestly I’m struggling a bit because I’m dumb. Yet somehow I’ve been able to do both floors on lvl 9 using a mix of Korthia and covenant gear.

(Yes they were both 0 star runs but hey they’re done).

How long has WoW been here? More than 16 years. I used to be hardcore no life back then when I started this game at 2004. After 6 sleepless years, I tried to leave WoW to resolve my addiction to it. But I kept coming back… then I became Casual. I was an inactive Casual for years then the Dungeon Finder for Raids came and the best part was when Mythic+ came. I became an active Casual. Weekly Cache only needs 1 Completed dungeon per week. So easy. Shadowlands made me more active… 4 Completed M+ Dungeons per week. So easy. Pandemic sometimes allow me to complete 10 dungeons per week.

But I didnt start as pro. It was a long process of failure. But I kept on moving on… understood my mistakes until I became a good player. Then I applied to join an elite guild which really brought out my talents to this game to further enhance my skill. After years with WoW, I now became Casual but I still carry my skillset when I did Naxx40 and ICC25 killing Arthas.

How about you? Have you taken progress on your gaming? How long have you been playing this game?

This game starts at Solo while leveling (some even group up during leveling) then do 5-man progress to get gear for Raid then do Raid. It’s been like this since Vanilla. Mythic+ today is still a 5-man to prepare you for Mythic Raid.

There is no Solo progression since Vanilla. And there wont be Solo progression too on all incoming expansions on 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, etc. If you want to progress from Solo, group up to play dungeons (5-man or raid). There are mini-games aside from dungeons, raid and PvP but that’s not the strength of WoW.

BTW, dungeons is not that hard. It’s divided into difficulties… normal, heroic, M+0, M+2, M+5, M+10, M+15, LFR, Normal, Heroic, Mythic Raid. There’s difficulties for everyone. Play it. I know there are bullies in there. Bullies are present all over the internet. Dont let them hinder you on playing this addictive game. You make mistakes and they bully you. Dont pay attention to them. Just try to understand their perspective even though they are wrong. They bullied you becoz of your mistakes. Keep playing, learn from mistakes and move on. When you improve your game, those bullies go away.

Even me doing M+14 or M+15, I make mistakes and some elites bully me for it. But I took note of my mistakes, I have to be perfect if I want to be KSM. I even installed ElitismHelper for me to see the amount of failure damage I’ve been taken. Look at me now, I have improved a lot as I can now do the whole M+15 most of the time with zero death on me with less than 100k failure damage (used to be 400k+).

excluding paid carries, how many casual players got KSM by doing exactly 8 runs?

Eh, I have been playing WoW on and off since release night, late November 2004 (another account, long ago, I created a new account a year ago to do things fresh again).

I have been a solo player since Day1. I run dungeons when I feel like it, which is less often these days than it was in 2004, but I was always primarily a solo player. Many WoW players are solo players, you should be well aware of that yourself having been around since 2004 as well.

There sure has been ways to progress your character (and iLvl) more meaningfully in prior expansions than in Shadowlands.

That’s called Welfare Gear… catch up gear. I dont regard them as progression gear. Korthia 9.1 has this catch up gear system. And 9.2 would have some similar system too.

All Progression is through Dungeons and Raids since Vanilla fyi. All incoming expansions would be the same. Catch up gear is present on .1, .2 or .3. It wont exist on .0 like on Legion 7.0, BFA 8.0 and Shadowlands 9.0.
