Punish M+ Leavers

If you leave this thread before it’s completed you will be punished.

I think this whole idea of punishment is crazy as I said early in the thread.

I do have some recommendations though that might improve the game. They will be unpopular for players on the lower end of the skill curve.

  1. Perhaps for keys above a certain level there needs to be some kind of certification system? Not sure what that would be but here are a few ideas.

For keys that offer hero gear in vault - you have to have the highest level below 2 chested

For keys that offer myth vault - same

Most of the bad play i run into is tied to folks who are gearing

Perhaps tie something in game to warcraft logs performance? Again not sure how to do this but an in game scorecard for execution and output could auto filter people out.

  1. Keys don’t deplete - you get no loot or score for not timing them. That way there is much less incentive for carries or for finishing weak runs

  2. Add a button to vote to end the run. If 2 say yes the run is just terminated and one person doesn’t have to pull the plug

  3. Frankly folks who only play one roll tend to have a very distorted view of game play

They don’t recognize where and what the difficulty points are for other classes / specs / roles are. I would be in favor of some mechanic in game that requires players to spend some time doing other jobs to unlock 20s.

  1. A deranking system for poor performance that keeps you out of keys of a certain level

As long as they also do it for

  1. Not interrupting must stop abilities
  2. Ignoring the dispel/cc affixes
  3. Stunning in the sanguine
  4. Baiting conal attacks the wrong way
  5. Standing in avoidable damage
  6. Doing tank damage
  7. Falling off of platforms
  8. Dying with a defensive/healthpot/healthstone available
  9. Pulling with the healer at 10% mana

Tanks will be screwed…

So I had a bit of a think on this. I don’t really believe there are any issues with leavers or the current system.

But I do think the issues that have been addressed could be an opportunity to improve the game experience with the following steps.

  1. If a key reaches the timer it auto ends pending a group vote to continue - this gives folks the opportunity to practice if they want, but otherwise puts an ending to the event.

  2. Do not give score or hero / myth level gear or vault slots for keys that don’t beat the timer. I think this right here would pretty much remove all incentive for the folks that want flawed groups to continue.

If a group keeps it going - it’s to practice mechanics and get better as opposed to be carried for a fleeting chance of some reward.

  1. I think depleting the key for not meeting the timer should also go. There are mechanics that look wildly different as the levels progress.

I think it should be totally ok for a group / player to fail - learn some stuff and then give it another go. Practice is a good thing.

  1. Add a button that someone can click to initiate a vote to terminate the run - that way it isn’t the “phantom and mysterious evil player who just left and bricked my key”’ who is responsible. It’s a group decision to terminate which means the group organizer and participants ought to reflect on why.

I think, as far as penalty goes, I’d much rather have no-loot from an untimed key than have to run a dungeon that I can’t get anything out of. As a side effect, it puts everyone on the same page for goals.

A leaver percentage, as well as a party leader success percentage of the groups they start.

Honestly, i think blizz should take about 100 rating or a little more off the players m+ rating if they leave, it could actually put a dent and make people realise to not do it?

so 100 per leave and it stays till next week where it resets back to 0

Ah… an M+ leaver necro.

Hello Darkness, my old friend.

It is not an MMR and does not, and cannot, fall.

Im well aware.
but what i was saying is. that if they did make that penalty that takes your rating down if you abuse the m+ by leaving.

and since when was 11-12 days necro lol

How much should be deducted if someone fails to interrupt or use personal defensives or is pulling 28k on a +11 boss during a fortified week as a 466ilvl ret pally?

By the way, the aforementioned ret pally left the key I was in when the tank called him out and asked when he was going to start playing. We still +3’d the key without him.

Why would a check card system in a static, scaling environment need an MMR? And leaving isn’t abuse.

Any m+ leaver thread is inherently necromancy since it’s all to try to revive the dust of a dead horse.

But we know the magics and how to counter them.

you just said it in the start of your ridiculous post… you control who you invite. If you don’t know them and you’re that worried about it, don’t bring them. /END

And those of us who lived through the deserter not applying when kicked days (or can largely just project the player base behavior in the obvious way they would react) have told you multiple times in this and all related threads, will result in players of keys they want to leave doing everything they can do make someone else leave first. If you are playing so poorly that it’s negatively impacting my experience, if you are verbally abusing me or others in the party, or if it’s clear the key is no longer able to meet my goals (say I was only in that key because I needed to time it and the key was listed as a group beating the timer), I can start doing all sorts of unsavory things to make everyone’s experience miserable. I can “hold the group hostage” to use the usual parlance until someone else decides to leave first. The better solution is allowing me to leave the key I’ve decided I no longer want to be part of so everyone can cut their losses and move on with their day.

Why none, of course. In fact they should get double score for giving it a good ol’ college try. How else would people be able to leech score from being carried?!

There isnt a good way to enforce a punishment rule for M+ leavers, without it being able to be exploited and punish innocent people.

There just isnt a good way that people have come up with. And by and large, the system as it exists right now works fine. If you want to decrease the chance of people leaving your key, then run with a guild group…

Reading this… I am guessing you were the problem.

By this logic I could never pug!

Who tf cares WHY they left? You leave, you get punished. Thanks for outing yourself for being one of the people who ragequit keys, though.

People always looking for someone to blame.

10 month necro.

Hm. Yeah, no one is a saint and I would rather have someone that leaves a doomed key over someone who wants to punish people for not wanting to carry dead weight.

honestly i used to say banning leavers would be terrible… however after this season and how hard it is to make groups. Maybe giving 10-30% of population would be good for them.

Im down. Lets see what happens.
