Sure there will always be a meta. Just that now it will be influenced by additional factors that it wasn’t influenced by before. So now you have to pick a specific covenant just as you have to pick specific classes, specs and talents.
I mean the min-maxers will adapt.
It’s the people who pick Covenants because they like the aesthetics or story and end up picking the dud one who are going to suffer the most.
That’s probably how I am going to pick a Covenant and I don’t anticipate suffering a huge amount. I’ve always adapted to the various class and spec changes that have occurred.
But at the same time, adapting to the change doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good change for the game as a whole, or that you like it.
I adapted to the initial implementations of Corruptions, Azerite Essences and Azerite Gear, and I’ll adapt to Covenants.
All it means at the end of the day is that I’ll just do what I did before transmog or standardized mount speed existed, and choose the most effective thing over the thing that I think looks the coolest.

I wish Blizzard would stop biting off more that they can chew. To succeed this system needs balance and based on the things they have said they have no friggen clue what balance is.
You can not declare there has to be a best and a worst in a system that demands actual equal overall balance. It’s a oxymoron!

Yeah, I dunno why people push the “adapt and you’ll like it narrative”.
I’ve adapted to all the systems of the past few years. Doesn’t stop me from disliking them.
No they will play 4 alts and those of us without the time/patience to play the game that way suffer.

The question is not “can we adapt” it’s “should we have to adapt”.
Yes we can always adapt. But that doesn’t make this system correct. And It doesn’t mean all the systems we choked down in the past where correct ether.
Just because we can work around it doesn’t make it right.
Frankly this system uses Art as cheese to draw people away from the logical choice and puts wants and needs at odds with each other all to create a meaningful non-choice that looks like a choice.
I’m tired at the end of the day and all I want to do is dawn some cool armor and destroy some stuff. If I need to have my mind manipulated and be drawn into weird decisions between my wants and needs I can go to my mothers house.
I love how half the time, they just have this deadpan reaction to it’s happening.
