That arbitrarily hindering a player’s ability to customize a character to their playstyle or content demands is stupid and a problem that could be easily avoided by removing pointless locks?

No one is demanding anything . We are listening and reading what people actually testing the stuff are saying .
Would you buy a car if the people that have gone out and road tested it and done all these rigorous tests on the car and found lots of issues and gave their opinion that said car is not a good buy ?

It does not take 200hrs to catch up, I don’t even have 200 hours played on my main and I think I am more than caught up.
It is about priorities do stuff that gives excessive gear for time spent, I completed AOTC Nzoth with only 1 normal and a few heroic kills. The normal kill was an accident I joined a normal instead of heroic pug didnt notice till the item drops then told the raid lead sorry was going to a heroic raid.
To gear effectively in the age of personal loot you need to be focused on what you need from where and target that if I only have 2hrs and I want nzoth loot obviously doing a full clear is a waste of my time I need to join at least a 7/12 cleared group if not a cara one.
Hate to break it to you but, you’re arbitrarily hindered when you don’t cast the optimal spell or ability across every spell or ability available in the game, from GCD to GCD.

Let’s say I was a shadow priest and did heroic. Let’s say my heroic average parse was 26.4 Percentile (Green).
Maybe i should try to be less of a burden and listen to some min maxers right? They’d be able to help me with my rotation and allow for me to stop being such a dead weight on my raid team.

The choice of a sub optimal build does not ever hinder or enhance her ability to Role play… but now it will.
Never did LFR Maut. Only did Wrathion for the easy Vers/Haste Sword that never dropped.
I love this attitude. What you don’t seem to understand is that if everyone preformed at your level then you wouldn’t kill the boss.
