That said, I’m not entirely sure Ion made the right move here.
I don’t feel like addressing it and more or less admitting that he lied about there being a metaphorical ripcord to be pulled if the system sucked (Which let’s face it, based on the recent post can’t be read any other way) has just ignited debate that it’s blatantly obvious that he doesn’t care about feedback.
I considered stopping posting feedback on this, but I don’t think I will.
His original comments are the ones I’ll standby so here we go

Nobody is ever sure of anything. This is an ever-evolving game, changes are always going to happen. Nothing is ever set in stone. I believe he made the right decision and I have more respect for him, and for Blizzard, for sticking to their guns.

Where were you when Essences became account bound and the corruption vendor was added?
Like i said, from the literal very first post of this thread. I never had a dog in this fight, this doesn’t impact me at all.
I don’t always agree with Blizzard. I disagree with many things. The worst thing they have ever done to this game was to allow cross-realm play, which destroyed server communities. The most recent thing that I disagree with was their political stunt, I came close to walking away for good over that.

Which one? The one where they said gaming isn’t a good platform to bring up political situations and banned and stripped a hearthstone player of his income or the one where they support non Chinese politics?

At this point, it’s over. Your topic brought up a lot of good points but Blizzard doesn’t care.
The only choice at this point is to decide whether or not this is a deal breaker for you. It is for me, but I don’t hold any grudges over anyone who feels it isn’t. If it is, I advise you do what I do: wait until the 9.2/9.3 patch when they inevitably reverse this decision because of how bad it gets received.

So, I haven’t been keeping up with the recent wow things, did Ion finally decided to #pulltheripcord or are covenants launching as is?

No, actually Ion moved the goalposts and said the ripcord never existed and it wouldn’t even be possible to implement.

Well, that does suck for people fighting for change. Maybe when 9.3 rolls around after enough time has passed and players have left will things be changed.
Just to be clear, I still bought the deluxe editions for me and my wife and we both will at least give it a whirl and see how things go.
Can I just… not pick a covenant? Seems like the best option available.

I just want to play the full extent of the game with no arbitrary limits or walls, i wanna try new things and go back and forth. I enjoy playing optimally but choosing a covenant becomes less impactful in my mind cause it just feels like a limiter theyre adding something so ill thought as to “break the meta” or go against the nature of the game that people are playing.

This is exactly right Yesuna. People forget that most game companies give Jack sht as to what players want, that is because they have an idea for a game that they want to make and they make it, guess WHAT PEOPLE THAT’S WHAT GAMES ARE, why do you think people make games and copies of games, because they want to do it their way, WoW is not a game where the community gets to say how its made, what is in it, what it’s story line is etc, it is not a sandbox world people. That said, with an MMO it is foolish to not at least listen to constitutive ideas, but that does not mean the community has the right to dictate the way a game is to be made. It is like movies that get remade into live action for example sometimes you can’t do what was done in an animated version so you have to adapt the plot somewhat, also when new movies come out based of existing themes i don’t go into them expecting them to be exactly like the cartoon was, if I want to watch that, I watch the cartoon, I go into each exp of WoW as its own entity, sure there are some I like more then others, for example I loved how vibrant panda land looked, but it didn’t feel like Warcraft to me, but I did enjoy it overall. Personally I loved BFA sure it got a little convaluted plot wise OIAW, and the need to have 20 pieces of gear in my bags for 3 warrior specs for game play and PvP is annoying, but people want to say bowred power is stupid, hey that’s the way the game has been since LVL 1 every piece of gear you got made you stronger and it needs too or hogger will still kick your butt at LVL 60. While the pulltheripcord fallowing does make some good points, there are also many things people are forgetting, the game is not sandbox nor is it ever going to be balanced it’s just not possible not with millions of possible combinations of gear and specs plus class and abilities vs other classes and specs, gear and etc because I have PvP builds that rip players apart and yet fail at PvE but PvE gear that I can solo heroic BFA dungeons and yet get thrashed over and over again in PvP and it’s only a couple stat changes, ability changes mostly through gear but it’s been like that since BC. That’s what WoW is and how it works and there are all the time new combinations coming out that tip the scales because no one realized that item would work in conjunction with something else so well. This is life. The main change I do want to see is is the covenant Tallent trees not have a 1 week swap time, make it cost increasing gold like azurit reforging, I would be on with that, ir at most a 24 hour reset but not a week please blizz, I think that’s all we want most. So play the game and enjoy it for what it is, give good feedback and hope it helps, don’t sht talk Ion, help him and stop being a troll.

Yep…I’d be willing to pay an increasing anima cap to be able to do some swaps during the week based on the content that I want to do.
Granted it would suck to be in a “pay for play” scenario, but it would help our own groups out.
