That’s how I feel about it too. My negative feedback comes from a place of wanting this company to succeed. WoW has been one of my hobbies for more than 15 years now.
On the flip side, if they refuse to help themselves then the next best thing we can hope for is that this is painful enough for Blizzard that they are forced to do the right thing.
Aye. That’s why I’m going nutts on the forums about Shamans, they did a half assed job and it’s not acceptable. I’m glad that the happy for peanuts crowd is happy, but most aren’t satisfied with peanuts.
It stands to reason that if you say you don’t want flying, and they introduce flying, and you proceed to use flying… what you really mean is you don’t want others to use flying.
Just like - for another example - if you say you don’t like raider io, but you don’t make your own groups not using raider io, what you really mean is you don’t want others to use raider io.
or for a different type of example, if you were against master looter… and they removed master looter, but you still don’t raid and use personal loot… then what you really meant was that you didn’t want others to use master looter even though it didn’t impact your ability to play the game.
And if you say you want locked covenants, but they unlock covenants, and you proceed to swap covenants… what you really mean is you don’t want others to swap covenants, because others swapping covenants should have no impact on your ability to play the game how you want to and commit to one covenant.
But if it does, then you don’t really want it as much as you want others to not have it.
Orrr makes the abilities something you can change that are not tied to covenants Like, each covenant has an ability trainer (class abilities only) that you can learn and slot like essences.
Make sure soulbinds have equal number of the different nodes, and make the soulbind non potency etc nodes strictly utility or covenant specific perks such as gold from quests or faster mount speed.
Now your covenant is not tied to your playstyle or power, and people won’t want to change out of it multiple times a week.
Personally, none of the abilities seem totally amazing to me, and I’m currently not excited about covenants at all. But…the whole system shouldn’t make you feel bad about your choice. Currently, you better hope you get lucky that your favorite appearance covenant has your favorite ability. Otherwise you’re at least a little sad for a good chunk of the expansion. Why would we want that?
World first raider is on board, don’t know how it’s low quality at all. The thread has also been taken down and restored three times. Maybe you guys should give up mass flagging it
it’s funny how #RPGelements are so important but when you make an alt, you’re forced to pick a covenant right away and skip the entire RPG behind covenants on it so you can quickly “catch it up”
What’s important here is to make sure everyone understands this is not a “mythic raiders beg to make game easier”. It’s trying to make a more approachable and better game overall.
If seems strange to get so bent out of shape over people who just want a fair shake who play at the top end. You’ve been much confirmed you’re doing content where balance isn’t a top priority so why are you against people trying to make it a fair playing field at other levels?
I think the “YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE 100% OPTIMAL” argument is among the weakest arguments presented against covenant swapping.
There is nothing wrong with thinking it will be more enjoyable to play a covenant that has a better ability for AoE in AoE content than it would be to be stuck playing a covenant with a better single target ability in AoE content.
People seem to take that philosophy, that very simple philosophy, and try and turn it into “WAAAAAHH YOU JUST WANNA MIN MAX AND BE 100% OPTIMALL LAHHHHHH SPREADSHEETS!!!”
I’ve tried to play Affliction in dungeons, for instance. It sucks. It’s not fun. It’s great at single target, but it is just flat out not fun to play in dungeons. Trying to force me to play it in dungeons would be like trying to force a triangular peg through a circular hole. You don’t need a spreadsheet to know it’s gonna suck and you don’t need a spreadsheet to tell you it won’t be fun.
