Pulling before towers are down

Why is it that we (The Horde) always pull Van with 2-3 towers close to capping. Why do we even care if we “win” if we miss out on a ton of honor. I can’t tell you how many times this past weekend that Van died when 2 towers were within 10 seconds of capping. We’re there for honor, not marks. Winning is irrelevant. I genuinely don’t understand the logic of zerging him down when you can get much more honor by waiting ten extra seconds.

Horde get so tired of losing that they force the game to end without objectives. Guess they would rather win and get marks than get max honor?

I honestly don’t know the rationale behind it.

OP should just go reroll alliance. Hes got the perfect mindset for it.

For wanting more honor? The games are over in less than ten mins the marks are basically free.

I’m pretty sure the honor gain from killing Vann is greater than the gain from two towers. Can anyone confirm/deny?

The Ally pull when 1st tower caps too. It’s min/max culture at it’s worst. Someone, somewhere said the most efficient way to farm honor was to play AV like a race and move on to the next one, win or lose. And WoW players seem to want to play the game as little as possible with the most reward. Almost like they don’t even enjoy the game, but have invested so much time into it and convinced themselves it’s a mandatory chore to avoid coming to the realization that they have wasted years of their lives on a hobby that in no aspect translates into any real world accomplishments.

84 honor for killing van, 63 for each tower (x2 for what i was mostly seeing = 126). My point is that you can get an extra 126 + 84 if you wait or slow down dps for a few sec to let them cap. Not to mention this happening during AV weekend where the honor will be multiplied.

Not sure if they fixed it in tbc but in classic if a tower was close to cap but van died u could stay in the game and still get credit for the tower burning.

This was fixed.

Well, all I can say is that the alliance do the exact same thing…so the likely result if we don’t pull with two towers up is that they just win and then we get neither the towers or vann honor.

Exactly that over the weekend the amount of no tower no van games or single tower no van losses we had from allies pulling That early was a ton. If horde dosent pull at 10-15 secs before the first tower goes down no way your winning abs not likly to get van or the 2nd tower. While if allies was in shb to delay at start not likly to get any towers.

So no it’s not the horde doing it it’s everyone doing it since that’s the meta. You either do it or you lose more than you gain by not as other other side will if you don’t abs you get nothing. Unless the meta shifts won’t change.

While yes the win matters for some as many play just for dailly win as just getting dailly win each day will cap you on marks abs honor by end of phase.

Most people are just capping AV marks for the easy turn in. Honor capping is brain dead easy with the recent changes. Hardest part is figuring out how to spend the honor.

AV became more of a pve race than it was a pvp thing in BC. Wait until Wrath the meta becomes skip towers rush van only.

Only 10 people will actually do it lol.

Having a brain and not wanting to zug zug as orc warrior? Must be ally kekw

I did tons of AV this past weekend and mostly all of them became a rush to the end. Earlier in the mornings, Horde would try to ‘wait for the last 2 bunkers’ but the races had become so close that waiting an extra 20 or 30 seconds meant alliance would take down our boss and win. So no more waiting for any bunkers. It is a rush to the end and the second alliance got ready to go all in, all the Horde would rush in and try to beat them to get the win. As the day wore on, they had gone on auto pilot and just zerged almost every match I joined. A few folks would try to defend or take the bunkers but for the most part the larger group would ignore all that and just go for the kill.

Blame the people that report anyone on defense as afk for this. If it wasnt for them putting the fear of a ban into people there would be some running defense and slowing the alliance down.

To be fair, those playing defense should probably stack in the bunkers/towers. If you’re in the keep or cave from the get-go, you’re asking for it.

That being said… The lack of PvP that happens in AV is sad. It was my favorite BG back in the day.

Get a couple T6 tanks and healers and just 4 pull. Its honestly broken. You dont need a single tower.

which is the crux of the issue. The “fix” in making the buff per marshal about 4X greater so each one is the same as pulling with 4 towers now. This “forces” you to at least cap 2 and likely 3 before pulling. Thou this still will make it more pve vs pvp based it slows the rush down a ton as backcaping hurts a fair bit more. While this dosen’t really change the flow of the bg just slows it down slightly and makes getting towers down important so a bit of D to the towers is needed to stop the othersides D vs jsut rushing.

This isn’t faction related.

Tanks are geared to the point EITHER side just rushes to pull the boss ASAP.

If you don’t pull it first your opposing team will.
