Pugs = everyone needs on everything because they "can"

I seen it happen once or twice super early on in LFR. One of the times it happen on a piece of gear someone in my friend group needed so we colluded, and got group to kick the guy.

Don’t think I’ve seen it happen outside of LFR though. I think as people get gear it might be happening in normals more, but that’s just nature of having tradable gear/gold in raids. I’d even be doing it for some extra gold if personal loot was a thing, just so the game could tank the responsibility of rolling need for me.

I think the only way something like this will change (Blizzard has shown zero action on even addressing the purpose of Need rolls, not to mention changing when Need can be rolled) is to utilize a connected add-on which can be used to notify others of these types of rollers.

That way they can be put on ignore (which, I think will prevent future grouping, but I’m not 100% sure) that way the people that roll need on everything can be in their own group(s) and the people that don’t will be in their own group(s). Then, at least, everyone is operating with the same preconceived notions on what Need means.

The dark side of accessibility.

When you can group with anyone in your region at any time, there is a lack of caring how it impacts anyone but yourself when you likely will never see any of them again.

Not sayings it’s a good attitude to have, or that all the accessibility is bad, but it has consequences.

They could also just make BoP gear…actually bind on pickup instantly not 2 hours later, but that would probably hurt more than it helps.

I dont try to resell it for gold from other players.

I vendor it lol

They need to fix the roll system.

Pretty baffling ppl STILL participate in pugging content where they know other ppl are likely to ninja gear, which is one of the reasons I no longer do it anymore.

WoW players are truly a glutton for punishment I guess. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Why are you any more entitled to gear then the other people in the raid?

You lost the roll that’s all the matters, their loot they can do what they want.

I’ve seen it in higher difficulty in Amirdrassil. One time the guy tried to sell it and because nobody wanted to pay 100k, he just disenchanted the item. Leader didn’t want to kick this person because he got carried, lol.
In another group someone tried to extort me in /w. They were also a Priest with much better gear and rolled on a Tier token they clearly didn’t need. They saw that I had also rolled and then whispered me. “You need it? I’ll give it to you. But only if you don’t roll on any items for the rest of the raid, then I’ll give it to you after the endboss”.
GL really brings out the worst in players.

The problem is purely a community one, similar to why Master loot got taken out in the first place too, and I wouldn’t be surprised if something like the 2 hour trading system gets taken out for raids after this as well as a way to stop people from doing this despite making it worse for people that weren’t abusing it

Gotta make my bruto gold back somehow.

Cant stop me

Personal loot never stopped this btw, in fact you’d probably get even less loot

That’d kind of support my theory that it kind of creeps up.

It’s the incentive for the people that are overgeared to keep running lower tier content, but they got to get overgeared first which takes time.

I only did raids early on this expansion so it would’ve only been a LFR thing when I did it, probably a normal thing now, and will likely work it’s way into heroic as people get full hero gear, but want a reason to keep doing Heroic.

My time spent in raids is as valuable as anyone else’s. If I want to roll on transmog, I’m going to.

I think OP is wrong. In my experience I lose loot to low geared and bad players all of the time. I end up hard carrying PUGs, often outhealing 2-3 other healers combined, all for ZERO loot.

I need rolled on a mace that everyone else in the raid rolled off spec for, and then I got whispers from some terrible shaman who was crying that I already had a max level crafted weapon, while he himself had a 2 hander higher level than what I needed on. I just ignored him cuz he a clown and was doing 1/3 my healing. Not sure why people think it’s okay to cry about loot while getting massively carried through content.

I only roll need on stuff I want.

When I used to read the posts complaining about personal loot this scenario would be in the back of my mind.

Not a single thing personal loot would do to change these outcomes. In fact, it would make it easier for such things to happen.

Untrue.

That’s one of the issues that got it dropped.

When it was personal loot I’d just gave loads of spam like “You need that?!!”. Now at least when I roll these days and win the loot they say “bro you’re already geared… WHY!?”  :joy:

OP doesn’t appear to be concerned with the fact that they lost loot, only who they lost it to. Not that personal loot stopped that necessarily, it just didn’t force them to accept that someone opted into taking an upgrade from someone else and treating it as vendor trash.

Pretty sure there isn’t a roll system they can implement that won’t cause a problem in some way. All of the suggestions I’ve seen fall short. They can only take away player agency in the roll system and maybe increase loot to compensate.

Yeah it didn’t change a thing.
