Pugging Woes

As much as I’d love for this to be a reality, it’s not and will never be. Random M+ is chaos and that’s the price you pay.

One person not playing optiminally will not fail a dungeon or raid. That is probably why he went off because you singled his actions alone as the reason—pfft totems are minimal if other playsers are executing half as well.

Yeah, I suspect you’re right compared to having 4 people who can hop on verbal chat together, etc. But, at least for the lower keys (I’m currently no higher than 8 and got through 6 on all dungeons) it’s actually been a pretty good experience. I suspect it’s partly because people know the dungeons. Partly due to some hard carries here and there (that one DH tank…wow…). But, it’s also been pretty fun.

Only one real toxic run so far and that was just what it was.

Again, some of us don’t have another option/choice so I’m glad PUGs are there.

Yea I think just being thankful about it is good, and it rewards them for relaying the important information. Where if somebody goes off on them, they’re probably less likely to do it.

Some people are very sensitive so sort of assuming they may take it personally before explaining may help one to choose the right words. It matters a lot. People will reject “Bro you suck, how did you miss this, you’re supposed to…” vs “just thought I could help and explain this mechanic for ya!”.

I still haven’t experienced much bad behavior, but this week has been rough for pug groups. It feels like there was a distinct dropoff where it was easy to pug a group and pug a 10 or 11 and this week I just had a string of bad experiences where absolutely no one could time a key due to everything you can think of; butt pulling, lack of healing, lack of DPS, not doing mechanics etc.

At higher difficulties, one person can make or break it. People should welcome constructive criticism and feedback if it’s respectful.

Hope you reported him.

What is a “10 WS”?

Edit: Mechagon workshop, i guess, but man some of you are some lazy typers

Oh yeah, we all did.

I’ve had Mages in my groups straight up use Mass Barrier maybe once right before the key starts and then never again throughout the dungeon.
It has a 3 minute cooldown, the dungeons are like 25 - 30 minutes each, that’s like 8 - 10 uses easy and a load off the healer’s shoulders, come on blood it’s a 13.

When we first got Mass barrier in DF I would ask people to call for it while I started to remember that it was a thing I had.

I love popping my barriers on everyone, I just wish my frost barrier was pretty like prismatic and fire barriers.

PUG’s are a touchy subject with this lot.

I know healers are hard to find, but the point where this player decided to cuss you out for providing guidance… that’s where you kick and report…and maybe even ignore.

That’s if you didn’t do that. I didn’t see it in the post.

I don’t think it matters what level anyone is running… mechanics and understanding how to play your toon are important. If all you did was offer guidance, that player overreacted. But …if you dog piled… that’s a horse of a different color.

The first somewhat negative comment toward me I got in a long time happened over the weekend in a +12 priory where the tank (guardian) died on the second boss (we still Brez and killed it) and the tank said “wtb a heal”.

And not because I play perfect, far from it, I make plenty of mistakes, but healer flak or just flak in general in pugged keys seems pretty rare. Even failed/untimed ones. It’s just a “gg sorry for key.”

Well the GM and I spoke this morning and this person is an issue within their guild as well, and will be getting removed from the guild due to his behaviour.

Apparently he acts out in raid as well and was told he can no longer raid with them until his attitude improved.

I call it Shop. Come at me!

While it’s an improvement, why bother? Like, the healer should be able to do nothing, and the affix shouldn’t be a concern.

Improving yourself is way better than helping random people play better.

As for deaths on boss, it’s a 10, I think many people could’ve done something to live.

Would you prefer the raid.io WORK shorthand?

I get that WS isn’t the typical shorthand for Workshop (There isn’t one), but it doesn’t exactly take a ton of brainpower to discern what they meant by “10 WS”.

The guy was clearly trying to help with the affix, why not steer them in the right direction?

He earthgrabbed every single time it came out, so he was wanting to help but was just wasting his own resources by earth grabbing.

I’m not disagreeing, my guildies and I were in VC discussing what we could have done. But a resto shaman not using SLT once in a +10 is wild.

I rarely used it in m+ when I played shaman. People aren’t together often enough usually or it got the tank killed. As for workshop… maybe on the trash.

Well, third boss in workshop everyone sticks close to the boss due to how the room changes so plenty of opportunities to use it.

Same with on the two trash mobs after the third boss. Small, close quarters area. No reason not to use it when everyone is burning through defensives and dying to unavoidable damage.
