I don’t think we should just go straight to an MMR system or a queue.
That being said, our own self-created requirements are getting out of control.
The first week of M+ was actually fun for the first 2 days, before the requirement police came out in full-force. I timed all but Lower and Upper (didn’t try) last week, and have timed about half of them this week … and still finding groups is a nightmare.
Fated raids are similar, AOTC all 3 prior seasons, as well as purple parses, but getting into Sylvannas as BM is a nightmare (not a great damage profile with pets running around until P3).
Out of a 3 hour play sessions, I might get 2 M+ in, maybe 3. I would estimate I spend over 2/3s of the time just waiting around in queues or cancel scanning queues (if they don’t invite in 90s they likely already passed on you).
Sure I can post my own key, but the RNG nature of it, and the community’s insistance on metrics above all means that my 18 GD is useless to me since I alrady timed GD this week and last week, and only need SG, MJ, LK, UK to push io to make me more “invite-friendly”.
So say what you will about MMR or queues … but the current game is a mess and I can see where posts like this are coming from.
You just manually call back your pets after the adds are dead and you need to run over, than they follow you to the next add and if you macro /pet attack into a spell than you can get them attack again instantly.
Clearly your feelings are hurt and completely missed his whole point.
Doesn’t matter if you have done +50 keys and is best friends with ion himself. If your log for that character doesn’t reflect it then how are we supposed to know that you’re better than everyone on Team Liquid?
“LoL i sElL tHe caRriES yOu aRe gOoFy” shows that you don’t understand the argument
People QQ as it is, at least if there was a queue system and they were hard stuck at M5 than they have nothing to complain about but themselves. Like every ranked mode in every other game that has a rating system, if you are hard stuck at a certain point than you have no one to blame but yourself.
Oh I expect it to be far far worse with your change
The only reason I’m not against it is because I don’t do pug content, I only do content that has a “finder” (LFR/LFD/RandomBG) so this change won’t affect me but I see this change really turning up the dial on general animosity within the community.
Eh, the way you describe the system in the OP doesn’t make this line sound correct. What happens if I run and pull a bunch of trash and cause a wipe, and during that wipe you get hit by something avoidable giving you an
You may get someone who is carried in a few runs, their rank goes up, they end up in your queue and give you a bad run, this person will have many bad runs, they will drop back down very quickly. But you get only that one bad run and it won’t affect you as much so you can keep climbing the ranks and once you hit a high enough rank all the bad players are left behind.
It’s the same with every ranked queue system, someone at a low rank will be carried by a new player who is good, get to a higher level than they deserve (paying for runs or being carried in M+), but with a rank system which would almost certainly have a degrading score like how PVP now is, than those players cannot just stay there, they need to perform, and if they cannot perform they will be found out very quickly.
Look at the example above, a druid pugging keys to KSM and doing 4.5K DPS overall. That would give them almost certainly a negative score since everyone else around them is doing so much better and their rank will drop significantly, hell it won’t even get that high, 4.5K overall is somewhere in the M2-5 range (250 iLVL and 500 IO) for new players who just came out of ZM with anima gear.
One problem with how it is now is that players can get higher than their skill because they can over gear the content, once they are carried to a higher rating they can get much better gear and keep over powering the content. Put players in a queue that determines what key level they can do and now they cannot over gear content, now they have to learn how to play and very quickly all the bad players will be found out and left in the dust.
Plus it would stop carry groups, I know some people love this, but many more don’t. How can you carry someone if their own personal score determines how high they can queue?
Only one affix is new, and its introduced at a 10 so if they dont know what the affix does then they should stay in a 10.
Theres no new routing in the dungeons save for Iron Docks. Kara and Mechagon were all M+ dungeons in their respective expansions and there are routes for them already, Grimrail is literally a tube of enemies, and Tazavesh is still current and arguably the easiest dungeon.
Yes because every single person that plays WoW was playing during WoD/Legion/BFA and has a perfect working memory on how the dungeons worked from 3 different expansions up to 8 years ago.
You need to chill dude, you’re the guy thats just not quite good enough to KSM or AotC but you act like you’re some sort or professional WoW player with your high standards
A fair thought would be …
People log M+ to check for dmg done/dmg taken/etc breakdown for optimization. If you hover over the dps performance comparison by key level you will also know where you stack up.
You also implied they log for dps. Nowhere did that guy say dps logs.
