PTR vendor bug-Legitimate Tier 2 deleted

i am posting this in hopes a DEV can look into a massive issue. in the wake of the PTR vendor bug i have had my Tier 2 helmet deleted. this was legitimately earned via BWL. there should be data showing my account receiving a TOKEN and then vendor data showing me hand in said TOKEN for the tier 2 helmet. hopefully this is a mistake? and not “punishing” your player base.

I have heard of several cases of this happening to other players as well so i urge you to post here if you had LEGITIMATE T2 deleted.

How many pieces of gear did you buy off the PTR vendor and what did you do with them? Did you convert any of them? Sell? DE? Delete? And plan on item restoring them later?

That sucks but you also tried to cheat and get ahead of others…

I bought 5 pieces of my draconic set. About 20 minutes after i ended up returning them to the vendor because i heard from jordee they would be deleted. I did 0 disenchants. And i returned the gear for a full refund. So item restoration is not possible.

I am guessing blizzard saw the draconic helm and it was flagged for deletion. So when i returned it they just deleted my coreforged version.

Ive seen similar reports, and the common denominator is that you all bought SOMETHING from the PTR vendor, which flagged your account.

I dont know if they have the level of granular data available to determine the source of the token your account all had, or if they just did something like a blanket fix where they detect anyone who purchased PTR vendor gear and deleted any tier 2 items from them.

Regardless, dont exploit early. Dont exploit often.

Did you get your items restored? Ive got the same exact scenario; picked up duplicates but returned them only for the earned drops to get yoinked.

Sounds like a perc of exploiting. You lose. Did you learn anything?

to be fair, a lot of players play this game casually and it’s the companies fault they put the vendor there. This isnt even like some rare hard to encounter scenario that the devs don’t know exists and you as a player, knowing its an exploit, took advantage of it. The devs are re-tar-ded and put the vendor in the middle of your major city.

As much as you want to attack players for buying loot (I feel the same way) at the end of the day, in THIS situation, its not entirely their fault. I could totally see some casual player logging in and being like “oh cool, the last tier of gear is purchasable!” Remember, in wotlk they added a ton of raid gear for tokens to Dalaran. Not everyone reads WoWhead or spends 10 hrs a day playing wow.

I will never be sympathic to cheaters.

I suppose I agree. Putting the vendor on the live server was a huge mistake on their part. But also in this circumstance, if you’re complaining that all your legit tier 2 was also deleted then id wager that you absolutely understand how the game normally works and that this vendor was not something that was intended. Raiding BWL is not something very casual people do.

If they had a reliable way to only delete the erroneously purchased tier, im sure they would have gone that route. I don’t know what the good solution would be for this.

Unfortunately not. My ticket yielded an automated response from a “GM” (insert dr. Evil quotations meme here) telling me that when they delete items they are unrecoverable.

There are now 5 reports on the forum that indicate blizzard removed non-ptr vendor items, with evidence of legitimate sourcing of those items.

Blizzard needs to do something.

Fact check:

that wasnt a bug, that was straight up dev incompetence
