PTR Notes for 12.1 CC

CLASSES

  • Diminishing return categories will reset after 20 seconds (was 16 seconds).
    • Developers’ notes: We’ve been monitoring the changes made to the diminishing returns system for crowd control effects in PvP during Season 1 and are pleased with the reduction in the number of repeat CC effects a player can be affected by before they become immune to those effects, lowering it from 3 to 2. At this time we also decreased the amount of time it takes before this immunity or reduction resets, and we wanted to make updates to that portion of the system to continue to reduce the total amount of time that players are not in control of their characters. As a result, we’re increasing the reset timer from 16 seconds to 20 seconds for Season 2.

Hey Blizz, good change. I think 18sec, where it was originally I’m pretty sure, would of worked too and probably was the best number but this is 100% better then 16 sec.

It’s actually insane how much of a difference 2 sec shorter made.

This is amazing, I couldn’t be happier

Not bad, combination of 2 dr instead of 3 and a longer reset time should actually do what they initially intended and make it so there is more time between cc chains.

Been playing my Holy priest and I have to say this is such a welcome change. Resto druids incap, cyclone-ing me constantly and mistweavers paralyze, leg sweep stunning me into sleepy cloud has been extremely annoying and overbearing. A little breathing room is nice.

I also can’t stand Pres Evoker sleep walk but it’s not as overbearing as the long chains the other 2 do. Makes you wonder why holy Paladin lost repentance. At least they could have kept it on a cooldown? Idk. Weird changes. Some things apply to some classes and not to others. Resto Druid having NS clone is so bizarre.

Maybe with a change like this we can look into un nerfing CC duration. We nerfed, lowered the amount of cc, and took 2 sec off the duration and it felt like we were cc’d way more. Maybe 2 sec added to the original DR with CC durations back to normal could be the sweet spot.

game gets increasingly easier for melee with every patch

Do you all enjoy winning by whoever is doing the most dps during dampening cause that’s where it’s headed.

I missed it but wasn’t there an expansion where cc did not matter and it was all about whoever was doing the most damage?

That’s my point though that’s where this design is heading whoever does the most during late dampening wins.

I was thinking about the DR change more and I feel like maybe the 90 second healer trinket thing should go back to 2 minutes if this goes through. I feel like healers are just going to send trinket all the time now without thinking too much about it. Might be awful and push the game into dampening too much.

I’m sure they’ll get enough compensation that they come out stronger than before, as they always do.

i mean every mage spec getting double barrier + effects on it and now arcane has an extra defensive

prettty sure were in for another very very mage heavy season now featuring all 3 flavors of mage with newly minted immortality enhancements

There’s like two comps that are heavily affected which are rmp and mlx. Will be business as usual for everyone else

It affects me deeply I have to wait to mc dc people now a little longer

idk how i will recover from this big priest nerf

And just like that, the reign of splay begins

Exactly the comps that rely on setups and cc to win the game? You all just want this game to be a dps drag race then it will be fun? who can throw 1 cc on a healer last second because they are behind sounds way more fun.

Set up comps need 1 DR. They’ll just wait 4s to do dam

Yea this only really affects the non cd cc comps, and let’s be perfectly clear something needed to happen.

With that said I would like to see cc duration unnerfed with a change like this but we will see how it goes.
