Currently on the ptr/beta when you shapeshift you arn’t getting the correct amount of energy back. This was called “powershifting” and allowed skilled ferals to compete in dps. Is this a bug or intended? Hopefully ferals arn’t getting nerfed 15 years later.

I main feral and this was recently mentioned to me by a guildie. In classic you could powershift right before an energy ticket and get 40 from furor, 20 from Wolfshead, and 20 from the energy tick to get 80. Is it not working like that in PTR/Beta?
/bump! any other ferals alive out there? @Dreamsphere currently you only get 65 instead of 80 with wolf helm!
There is a dude that makes YT videos, and his most recent one said blizzard is aware and trying to fix it. It’s a known bug, no worries

Summary: in classic it worked as you said (40 + 20 + 20), a few days ago they broke it on Beta and PTR so you were only getting a partial tick based on how long you were in caster form (40 + 20 + ~3), now the tick resets completely so you have to wait for a full tick before you see 80 (40 + 20 + … 20).

He never said they are aware and trying to fix it - he said that, because the energy changed from partial to none, it signifies that they are “looking at it and trying to come up with a solution” (his words). But that assumes the current iteration isn’t the solution, or that it won’t change further for the worse (so that caster form energy regen is also removed to exactly match 2.2). Sure, it’s true that they may be looking at this and trying to solve it - but it may be just as true that they’ve already done that and this is it.
I get what he is saying and I agree, but I also fear—from a pessimistic standpoint—that this may not change for the better. I’d really just like some sort of communication from Blizzard to give an answer on what we may expect. It’s disappointing to be so close to prepatch and have such ambiguities around a major component of gameplay for druids.
I’m am deliberately being a bit of a negative Nancy here, so as to try to keep motivation in get this resolved before prepatch. I don’t want to just trust that Scott is right and then be left with this bugged iteration (not that I don’t appreciate and respect him).
Wasn’t this a change made to energy users in WOTLK? Energy was a steady increase regardless of what form and furor gave you the ability to have max energy when going into cat form? Perhaps this is an oversight and hopefully fixed.
