PSA: Need twitter to play the game

Just so everyone knows, you have to log in to more than one character to start getting the new currency.

Don’t open two weekly chests and do the raid without knowing that and miss out on 4 essences worth of currency.

Didn’t know that? Yeah, it’s on Twitter of all places.

It’s actually a notice on the character select screen and also on the battle.net app. You don’t need twitter.

If you wanted this information before you could mess it up, then you needed twitter.

Only if you logged in in the first hour servers were up. The notices were up after that.

Considering so many people DO log in within that first hour… heck some right on the money, so they can get their chest, this is a failure on Blizzard’s side of communication. Period. The notice should have gone out BEFORE the reset, like with the Titan Residuum reset. There is no defense for incompetence. Which was clearly what was on display today.

Every system like this has been like this. They can’t poll the whole database of characters to see what everyone has, it would eat too many resources, so they have to wait til you log in on the character.

Transmog was the same way when the collection came out.

Actually that notice only says you need to log into any toon with rank 3 to get the currency rolling. It doesn’t say you need to first log into alts to start getting it on the first character.

For all we knew we’d just gain the new resource on alts until we logged in our mains to check off which rank 3 essences were owned.

People complain about too many currencies so they probably didn’t want to give it if you didn’t need it, and they probably just figured that people would do things on their mains first come reset, as is usual.

So I’m the only person with essences on characters other than the one I raid with? There is no reason for Blizz to plan for the scenario that someone swapped characters after the last raid or does their PvP on a different character?

Also evidently no reason for them to communicate this through other than a third party website.

Can’t plan for every instance, and Twitter is the quickest way to get it out to many people at once, most people don’t read the forums.

When things like this have happened before they’ve given the currency through a hotfix, wouldn’t worry too much.

Every instance? I really don’t think this is such an unusual situation to have, especially judging from the rest of the threads on the front page.

Ya know, this is the kind of thing the PTR is for. But they couldn’t be bothered.

The launcher or character select screen would be the quickest ways. Twitter is a distant third.

You really want them to pull up a ptr for a minor change? Rather them get alpha ready to go.

They’re working from home atm, probably a bunch of logins to go through to get it up on the launcher. And they did get it up on the launcher.

You do realize they posted that like and hour after the fact…

Twitter, BNET news was all up after, they literally didn’t inform anyone until after it was too late, which is funny because they had the hotfixes out yesterday…

It should have been ready to go the second the servers came up.

They probably expect people to log into a main first and didn’t think of it /shrug. You’ll get your currency regardless, they’ll hotfix it to everyone who missed out like they always do.

yeah well EVERY WoW player does have the launcher screen why didn’t they put the info there so people would read the announcements prior to logging in?

The PTR is up right now. You can log in this very second. Why not push it out there for a couple of days so the community can get the word out about this $hitshow?
