PSA: How to ignore forum users

If you earn a bad rep, that’s on you :+1: No one has the responsibility to be the captive audience of an obvious and persistent troll.

Pro and Anti LFD fights aside, we can all agree GDKP and his massive alt army are an issue. I’m starting to think he’s also the LGBT troll dude in Retail but I ain’t snoop too deep to confirm it. Like please ban him LOL.

This also allows for invasions of privacy in terms of seeing all toons an on account and even low grade doxxing by figuring out who has what characters then using bits of information from each to paint a larger picture. Don’t like who’s competing with you on the AH? Find out who their bank alt is using this feature then expose them or blacklist them

If you’re basically advocating for people to only go by their battletag, it’s the same thing I guess, but all that that type of ignoring would do would be a clever, tedious way to figure out who owns which toons.

Sure, still wouldn’t change who gets action taken against them, because no one here is breaking the CoC.

As long as OP doesn’t confirm who it is, it can only be argued as “speculation.” Therefore, OP isn’t calling him out.

OP’s only intent here was to show people how to put people on ignore when they have privated profiles. Not to call anyone out.

I don’t disagree with this. At the same time, don’t be crying for mods to see his intent and ban him then not care about the blatant COC violation here when you look at the intent simply because its something you agree with.

I might disagree with Bernie Sanders or Greg Abbott, and I might like someone politician named Marty Schwartz more, but if Marty Schwartz does something against the law and Greg Abbott does the same thing, I don’t think Marty should get off free and Greg should be penalized just because I agree with one.

And by these standards, it’s only “speculation” that LFG is breaking the COC in attempts to rile up the community.

This is just the same tryhard lawyering that LFG does in his threads explaining that there’s no concrete evidence he’s trolling.

Sucks having to ignore his individual alts and cant just ignore his account. He makes a new alt every day pretty much

OP isn’t out here making hourly troll posts about the same topics and arguing in clearly bad faith. Playing Devils Advocate on this one doesn’t make a ton of sense. Anyways, even if it’s easy to see who this is talking about, there’s enough plausible deniability to where it’s not some CoC violation. Consistent, low-effort spam posts meant to rile people up are significantly worse for the forum than a tongue in cheek PSA about [redacted]

Great info for people Charax with the screenshots and all. Very helpful for people.

Giving info on how to ignore with no names given isn’t name and shaming lol. It’s just helpful information for people who don’t know.

As you said, trolling is subjective though, which means its definition is based upon what the community agrees upon. Calling someone out insultingly would be very clear, but OP hasn’t done that.

Maybe in your opinion, but it’s still unfair application of moderation and against the rules. Like you said, it’s easy to see what’s going on here, but there’s enough plausible deniability to not be able to prove it’s against the COC. Same thing with LFGs threads.

LFGs only intent was to support the Anti-RDF movement, which is a needed voice given all the Pro-RDF fighting and Blizzard’s history of changing with public opinion.

I can do this too Ayerair. If anyone’s arguing in bad faith here, it’s you.

The treatment you get in a community is equal to the reputation you build yourself; call it “unfair” or “unequal” or whatever, but that’s how online communities work/should work. If you’re constantly drawing significant negative reactions from the community because of repeat behavior and there’s nothing to assume good faith from, you (should) receive harsher treatment when discipline comes along.

I get that the bit here is playing the Devil’s Advocate, but you’re pretty far off of the mark

Yo this is BiS comms.

Love you <3

I remember seeing on another forum post that LFG was from Grobbulus. Do all people there defend him, or are you also another alt?

Ah yes, because his posts about “donating” $1000 via buying Dragonflight and 12 month subs was definitely not trolling. (Buying DF tells the RETAIL team they’re doing good, and you can’t even buy 12 month subs, only 6 months.)

Same with the “Wrath Classic will be better than Retail Wrath” or whatever.

Rich irony, posting from an alt yourself. Look me up, Confidence-Heartseeker. I got force transferred and have hundreds of posts on that version of my character, and thousands on Confidence-Kromcrush, which is where I started out.

Contrary to your conspiratorial beliefs, not everyone who is defending equal application of moderation is LFG’s alt. I’ve had my fair share of forum bans in the past. I dislike unequal application of punishment in law (such as when young white girls whose dads are cops are let off much more often and easily in drug cases than young minority males), in school (when teachers play arbitrary favorites, or punish an entire class for the behavior of one), or in forum moderation. Caring about consistency does not make you the alt of a troll, it simply makes you a person who cares about consistency. I’m opposed to a lot of forum moderation, but if people are going to call for it, they had better call for it equally.

It should be very clear from my style of posts that I’m a totally different person from LFG, but if it isn’t to you, and you want to do more research, you’ll find Confidence is the only forum toon I post on except when I literally hop to an alt and announce myself as Confidence’s alt in a thread for comedic purposes, of which I’ve done a handful of times in my 3 years of posts.

W H OMEGALUL are you

LFG truly believes this and there is no evidence that this is trolling.

I donated $200 to my local veterinary clinic recently. I’ve been mistaken about services before. Perhaps he bought 2 six month subs.

Like I said, Ayerair, I can do this too. Cut the charade. We both know what LFG is up to, and we both know what this post was up to.

I’m guessing Confidenceyo is worried that if the forum users can turn on and ignore LFG, then people will start ignoring him too.
