PSA: Here's how you avoid queue times!

Many of you are probably in a similar situation to me where you work and you have a commute to get back home, for most of us we are stuck not only in a 1 - 2 hour queue time on the highway waiting to get home but also a 1 - 2 hour queue time once we get home before we can play.

The solution: Google Remote Dekstop

It is an app that you can download on your iPhone/Android and your PC as well and it allows you to essentially connect to your PC from anywhere in the world even on 5g, no WiFi.

This app will let you queue into your server while you’re at work or on the way home and it even lets you anti-AFK by pressing jump/movement keys when you’re logged in all from a couple clicks on your phone.

Hopefully this helps a lot of you avoid queue times as I only predict it will get worse by the end of the month during launch, cheers!

If you run authenticator through the battle net application then this is AGAINST TOS. If you don’t have authenticator you can do this.

I think its incredibly dumb for them not to improve the servers to handle the amount of paying clients they are hoping to come back to the game who will just walk away.

I also think them creating an issue that if we choose to solve ourselves we get banned and then they lose our sub…so its pretty much lose lose.

you do realise its because of stuff like tha twe have queues that takes hours yah?

Oh I had no idea about the authenticator thing, i’ve been using this method for some time now and I never saw any sort of penalty for doing it. I just figured it’s a nice life hack that people might not be aware of.

I do agree in that I wish they would fix the servers, but I don’t know what more they can do now after the fact.

People have been using team viewer and auto clickers to deal with this for years. That said. It’s still kinda messed up.

I assumed the queue time is due to a heavy server load of people trying to log in and the servers not being able to handle that load, i’m not sure if enough people are using Remote Desktop enough for it to be related to any of the wait time.

I just use Team Viewer, launch wow, jump a bit ez

Yeah Teamviewer works great too, I just use the Chrome app because it seems easier and more integrated with stuff I already use.

It’s saved me hours and hours of queue times.

Where in the TOS is this stated? This is the first I’ve ever heard of it and I highly doubt it’s true.

Being on the East Coast and playing on a West Coast server helps a lot. I get home from work and can log in before their prime time.

I keep WoW on the steam deck for just such occasions. Online all waking hours.

if any person is on a remote connection, thats 1 spot taken on the server. This means that we just create ques faster but also like you said its the only way that we can play because the company we pay doesn’t care about turning people away from the game and losing money.

NA Servers being consolidated: Anathema, Bigglesworth, Blaumeux, Deviate Delight, Fairbanks, Felstriker, Heartseeker, Herod, Incendius, Kirtonos, Kromcrush, Kurinnaxx, Loatheb, Netherwind, Rattlegore, Reaper, Skeram, Smolderweb, Stalagg, Sul’Thraze, Thalnos, and Thunderfury.

If you look at all the servers above listed to be consolidated this summer (22 Servers) I am just at a loss of words to try and understand why after decommissioning 22 servers how you cant upgrade your current ones in use…

I have a feeling they want Classic to be more of a museum-theme park of the past as opposed to a fully functioning recreation of the past, like you said it makes no sense that they can consolidate over 20 servers and leave the biggest ones to constantly suffer.

I don’t even think it would cost them much in overhead to support existing servers with better technology to handle queue times/big loads, but seeing as how they even opted into some automated reporting feature and refuse to pay for GMs it seems like they just want this to be a low cost cash grab.

Agreed,

At this point with 2 days into prepatch and seeing a migration message. Well it seems like a scam for them to make more money of Xfers. Until they lose more players than they make money in xfers.

Literally this business model doesn’t make sense. You want people to come back, but you don’t support the amount of people coming back. I am not sure if they know this but they will make TONS of money off name changes (active now) and race and faction changes.

So they should be focusing on keeping sub numbers strong and not turning away people who walked away from the game because the experience was bad due to everything being rushed or because they cant get home to login to play.

Also lets not forget putting more active players in a position to break TOS to make their GDKP or guild raid that night.

Server Migration messages on day 2 means to me they understand nothing. Or they think this is a opportunity to make money but instead they will lose clients.

You also have to keep in mind their sale to microsoft who could literally could do all this for them for free, including handling resources for the servers.

Nowhere does it say anything about authenticators there. So the differentiation between legal without an authenticator and illegal with an authenticator is not specified.

The quoted section of the EULA cites cloud computing/gaming, which is not the way in which WoW is run in this scenario. WoW is being run on the user’s personal computer, not a cloud computing server.

Here’s another idea. Move to a realm that’s not overpopulated. My 2 realms have no queues.

“Which realms are you in?”
-One is clearly shown on my name. The other is Sulfuras.

“The only thing I see next to your name is 6205 posts.
Not everyone is on desktop, it would have taking you less time and effort writing the name instead of being snide.”
-Yes but telling you the answer doesn’t help you in the future. You want me to give you a fish. That’ll help you 1 time. If I taught you how to fish, that would help you indefinitely. You can use the word “snide” if you want. I prefer “constructive.”

“Please never have ideas like that anymore, I nearly passed out from it”
-If useful information makes you pass out, I think that’s a personal problem.

Some people have moved their toons from 3-4 servers already since starting and no one wants to be on a low pop server when high pop servers offer more activity and a better chance to play in groups.
