Prot Warrior 11.1 PTR Feedback

So going by your awesome argument we should make the game with two buttons attack and defense because YOU like to play it slow? Well, the thing is it does not match with 99% of people actually playing this class in the content that it requires us to play like that. Play it right does not mean sweating over it, in whatever content you are playing outside of m+, which could lead to normal/heroic/delves, you can play right by playing the tank role and not die, which, you don’t need that kind of sweating. You are missing the key point and bluntly telling all people to play H&S Diablo style? You can do better than that pal. Spam? I don’t spam anything I rotate my abilities, but I get why people say that as they don’t invest in proper macros.

Either way, I could be like you - go play another class.

Back to the most important part which is the topic. A talent revamp, a spec tree specifically is what is needed right now. The amount of must-have picks is a disaster, the same goes for the class tree. This leads to the ext topic - utility, barely can take gimmick ones from our class tree due to bloat and throughput talents without which I become severely weaken than other tank classes.

It is mathematically impossible to hit 380-400 apm. You may be spamming buttons really fast and have that many key presses per minute but that doesn’t equate to apm. Also, you should probably chill a little bit on how hard you’re spamming your keys. That’s really excessive and definitely not good for your keyboard or your hand.

The Colossal Might nerf is a sign that whoever did that change has never played Warrior. Execute has its own phase for arms warrior. Depending on your build you use 2x Executes then MS or Overpower accordingly. So where is the explaination that they don’t want it stacking off Execute?

Explain this please cause honestly … what are you talking about as to this explaination? Right now you are utterly nerfing Colossal Might by limiting it to Cleave (3 targets or more) and MS. Im going to tell you right now Execute never pushed us away from using MS on proc or cooldown. MS is the majority of an Arms warriors dmg and depending on what your fighting Execute should be either 2nd or 3rd. This change makes 0 since.

not necessarily, they might just not know how to solve the apm of those classes yet and keep the feel they want. brewmaster has suffered with button bloat issues and other classes have gotten posts specifically about reducing button bloat, just because they don’t do everyone doesn’t mean you can’t do 1 or some

Thank you for continuing to monitor this thread Kaivax. Appreciate the update and I am looking forward to testing this out in the next update.

You think BM has bloat have you tried Shaman? And before anyone bites my head off I’ve got my Worgen BM monk to 80 and while yes she has a number of things to track, monk in general needs some love but that is a discussion for another post. Right now we will wait for the latest patch before we can give feedback of the feel of warrior. I know I’m looking closely at Colossus warrior. The thing I still want to hear about is execute and stacks of Colossal Might.

 I’d have more respect for Blizzard if you’d just tell the truth…

Never said brew has the most button bloat, was just an example to illustrate that multiple classes can face a problem blizz wants to solve but they only may have potential solutions for 1 at a time. Could also be a vision thing, they don’t want warrior to have high APM but might want a diff tank to

Don’t get me wrong I didn’t say you said that I was just saying the button bloat king eight now is shaman hands down. Maybe demonology in close second.

Sorry I’d that came across like that.

You’re fine was just clarifying what I meant

Stop that nonsense again man.
I never said that+ you know that, only trying to derailing the thread+conversation ONLY bec. you love that h&s speed gaming? Nice try but won t work on me+ others.
You don t speak for 99% of people. You only speak for yourself. Deal with that

Play it right does not mean press 1-2 buttons/minute.

I hope they will continue to slow all specs more down.
Current WOW has way too high APM and its not even fun.

I will ignore you now, bec. youre just trolling+ make fun of anything someone don t say something you agree with. Have a nice life mr. troll and bb.

Sorry lil one, me not expect alliance “warriors” to understand the turbulent immersion that it is to play a chaotic evil orc

I don’t think button bloat is a bad thing, specially when there will always be a class that have less buttons to press. Same with high APM - there will always be specs that do great with less spell casting requirements. That being said, I think that BDK Deathbringer is the only spec that is slower.

You either get button bloat or you get a billion different talents aiming to reset one core ability that’s got way too many talents in the spec tree augmenting it with the current way specs are designed which are two pretty awful design choices in terms of gameplay.

You’ve got a hidden talent there fella, best keep it hidden ya know?

Take a reality check and just stop. As far as I know, I haven’t been sleeping under the rock for the last month and nobody wants low/slow gameplay.

Back to the main topic.

Blizz - could you elaborate if you will make any changes to:

  • Execute back providing stacks for Colossus (can be Prot only if you are so scared of Arms)
  • Talent bloat and baking-in or reduce nods numbers in the class tree to be able to pick slows/fears/heals/dispel (silly one)
  • Talent revision of spec tree as there have been (outside of minor ones) no changes since DF. Same deal as with Class Tree tbh. This could lead to:
  1. Making Disrupting Shout baseline or Challenging Shout and replacing the latter
  2. Moving Booming Voice up to Disrupting Shout spot, putting BSV into it, and adding a utility nod below, not a mandatory one but something to switch if needed - could be Vigilance, DR for friendly player, or 5man SW as before we had
  3. Removing both Ravager nods as they are useless and never used. Adding there a type of grip with the blade flavor this can compete with Shield Charge bonus nods
  4. Making Commanding Shout stronger in 5man

You name it, there are plenty of options. You can go with Shout Fantasy or Ravager/Spear of Bastion flavor to add something cool.

I see the changes, but I’ve yet to see any acknowledgement as to both Anger Management and Violent Outburst’s reduced effectiveness on a “slower playstyle” due to slower rage generation and consumption.

Could there be anything you could do to address it?

I have messed with Ravager with two extra charges and I feel that it helps quite a bit with Rage Generation, specially for colossus. A lot of recent feedback about S2 dungeons indicate that Tanks don’t have to worry as much with tank busters, so I actually believe warriors will be able to unspec Battle-Scarred Veteran to run Ravager (and maybe Indomitable as well if you want to get an extra charge) for most keys, just make sure to give plenty of hugs and cuddles to your healer

To your first question, they never said they don’t want high APM specs. It sounds to me like they are trying to lower the skill floor of prot specifically by bringing the twitchy-ness down.

I have never convinced myself to pick that up, even while playing Mythic Raid of M+ in S1. That is why I completely ignored it going S2 and had faith in Blizzard to bring the rage back (which mainly they did). I feel it is not a capstone performer and giving up something more impactful is not worth it. This is what I meant by that talent bloat in our spec tree, too many good picks are so must-have that I rarely can use something I would like to adjust my gameplay without impacting my performance heavily. I might give it a shout as you said you felt it was a helpful pick. This could have been moved higher and would make much more sense!

Prot Warrior has a pretty tight talent tree and its sad that we need to give up some of the coolest talents to improve our utility kit (like the improved AoE taunt), the final result is always bitter sweet hahahah. I tried to make it work with Ravager (sacrificing Indomitable) but unfortunately it didn’t work out for me in S1, but maybe that might be a good choice for S2 until Keys become very hard. Hopefully it helps in your end, good luck bro!
