Yes i think it’s needed if most modern games use something similar and if there’s enough interest.
Obviously a T-squad thread.
But I’m bored… pronouns are not important to add to a game, this isn’t social media or the sims, which is a life simulator… nothing about WOW screams social media or life simulator. We do not need to address social issues in a fantasy game…
So basically, in the future we might have the option to choose a pronoun for our characters, and potentially our voice.
Talon obviously knows this is happening, but is making the thread for clicks.
There’s literally zero interest. Off with you.
Genuine interest aside, “Most people jumped off a bridge, so I should jump off a bridge” is not a valid argument, ever.
So our characters now can get their own pronouns. When I change toons, am I changing pronouns?
Using incredibly poor comparisons, like comparing something good and non-harmful to something harmful. That exposed your faux concern trolling.
I think it’s possible because that is already available in other modern games. I don’t think it would be out of reach for Blizzard to adapt. Look at body type changes.
huh??
If you want to???
Strictly speaking it’s one of those things that neither needs to happen, nor needs to not happen.
However I can’t see it taking up much developer time to actually add this into WoW. At least, not in what we know is coming with pronoun selections in Dragonflight.
Regardless of how many people actually want it, I’m sure the powers that be at Blizzard appreciate the quick and easy PR boost even if it’s only a minor one while the outrage being generated isn’t very likely to result in lost sales.
Anyone “outraged” will quickly move on because the feature will have absolutely zero impact on their lives. Then they can go back to murdering everything in their path like usual.
Drives the point though, doesn’t it. If you want to argue legitimate reasons why something should or shouldn’t be added I’m all ears, but “Others do it” is still not a valid argument imo. It’s something you could put in the footnotes sure, but it doesn’t really help you convince anyone of anything just on its own.
If your point is that all you’re interested in doing is bad faith arguing, yes it does.
The only dead language still used is latin.
Living languages change.
I may not use the pronoun you prefer first, but if you tell me what you prefer, I have no problem using it.
And that’s straight bussin. No cap.
So to that end…
If it’s something they can easily do, sure. If it’s something that takes any effort at all, no.
Seems like people are really flip flopping here on what pronouns would mean in a video game. First they say it’s their own pronouns and now they say they want pronouns for each individual character.
I don’t mind. My characters have whatever gender, it’s not tied to who I am in the slightest. I don’t really think of them that way. People can call me whatever gender, it doesn’t change how I think or feel about myself. I know what I am.
A puntable gnome.
Oh you’re so funny I’ve literally never heard that joke before
pro·noun
/ˈprōˌnoun/
noun
noun: pronoun; plural noun: pronouns
- a word that can function by itself as a noun phrase and that refers either to the participants in the discourse (e.g., I, you ) or to someone or something mentioned elsewhere in the discourse (e.g., she, it, this ).
There are hundreds of pronouns in this thread. Pronouns are a part of the English language (and many other languages).
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PRONOUNS
Stop pretending there is.
I am unsure if you’re trolling. But if you are, you got me!
