My PCs performance in Classic and Classic TBC were fine but once we hit Wotlk prepatch my clients performance is just significantly worse. I went from playing on highest settings and getting 120fps in a raid to 65 in low settings. Not sure if its just me

it’s not just you same here, i did not play on high settings ever or anything like that but i raided classic and all of tbc and my fps was smooth in raid, since prepatch hit i noticed the first sunwell my fps went down alot in both trash and boss encounters. i literally reset my pc to factory setting reinstalled wow and everything yet problem still presists. I don’t know the issue other ppl also have the same problem and their pc is much better than mine

Thank you for taking the time to report this. If you’ve already confirmed that your system meets the minimum system specifications, I recommend first trying our troubleshooting steps outlined here.
If you have no luck with those steps, we’ll want to have you post a ‘DxDiag’ so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
- Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the DXDiag. It’ll look like this:

Me and a lot of players from my guild are having the same problem on 25man raids. I tried reinstall WoW, lowering settings, removing addons, swaping from directx 12 to directx 11 on game settings, etc etc and im still having the same problem since week 1 of prepatch.
it seems like bad optimization from wow side. Maybe some DK skill?
I played wow all classic and tbc with highest settings and it was very smooth, full of addons and stuff. Now me and at least half my guild are getting all kind of stuttering and FPS problems at 25man raids.
Funny thing is I played all WotLK back in 2008-2009 with no problems at all on much worse computer lol

ok here it is
Check your Realtek drivers, there are some app crashes related to them. Yours are dated 2021, so you might want to check for some that are from this year.
Some Hyper Visor errors popping up, might be corruption with your OS install
Matching binary: vmswitch.sys missing for component: amd64_microsoft-hyper-v-d
You’ll need to run SFC/DISM scans:
- Press start button
- Type CMD
- Right click it when it in the list and run as administrator
- Accept the UAC prompt
- Run the command
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth(you can copy this and ctrl+v it into the cmd prompt or right click and it should paste it automatically) - Allow it to fully finish and see what it says
- You might also need to run
SFC /scannowas well, using the same admin elevated command prompt

Something is going on with all of you guys missing DLLs and stuff. There’s something you all are sharing in common with some oddly specific errors. But you all will need to repair your Windows installations using the method I outlined above.
Followed your steps above. Here’s what I got from running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I’m getting big time frame drops while just sitting in Dalaran, from 196-206 steady FPS to random drop to 119, 109, back to the 200 area. 25 man raids are signifigantly laggy / frame drop. I turned off all addons and saw the same issue happening, so I don’t think it has to do with those?
I then ran the SFC /scannow

I just got done doing this as well and it seemed to complete properly. Even ran the “SFC /scannow” twice and the 2nd time it came up with no errors. All I can do now is test inside 25’s
I can also report im now getting between 70 and 100 fps inside Dalaran depending on where im standing. So thats something
hello! I’ve stumbled upon this post and I believe I am in the same boat. My game is still very playable, however when pre-patch dropped. My frames have been horrible in raid. I use elvui and all of the basic addons / WA’s. Any assistance is appreciated.

Also having significant fps drops in 25 man raids, typically get 130-150 out in the world, and drop to 40-60 in 25 man raids.
3070 Graphics card, Ryzen 2700 cpu and 32 Gb RAM
Edit: Ran the fixes above, some corrupt files were found and fixed, but no noticeable change in game.
