Progressive itemization is crucial or character/raid progression is compromised

Itemization regression is the most asinine thing to campaign for. It doesn’t have a single effect on “character raid progression”. Things will be mowed down regardless.

Could you elaborate on this? It looks like a short-term issue to me.

In anticipation of the release, you can try to convey your position, in any case, everyone will play what happens

I’m guessing the website linked to numerous times in this thread use to show the actual items and their stat changes? Whoever made the sites seems to have gotten super dramatic and now all the links just go to the sites main page showing a gravestone.

Wrong.

This is the best thing for the game. All of you #nochangers need to take a HUGE step back.

CHANGES WERE MADE DURING VANILLA. They were for the better. I expect the effective changes will be preserved (as they are doing) and I expect even better changes to be made (and I’ve been pretty accurate so far).

The important part is making sure Classic ALWAYS stays true to the essence of Vanilla. All of those good things that made Vanilla amazing SHOULD NEVER GO. Every change should be addressed independently to be sure that it is true to Vanilla and also in aggregate.

Beyond this, we may need to address how the player base is playing Classic this time around. Many things that are completely un-Vanilla may happen because of how people are playing the game this time.

The important part is keeping it Vanilla. #nochangers are preventing this more often than not.

Site is back up.

Luckily we have a blue post putting this to rest. How about we discuss serious issues, like server population, and how Classic servers survive the great retail player exodus during the first month.

I don’t anticipate the tourist effect being that big of a deal if they have a stress test/open beta lasting for a month.

The chances of them doing an open beta are not good as they have only ever done that once, chances are it would be closed.

There could be massive benefits to a beta lasting a month. All the tourists wouldn’t feel the need to try the real game, server costs/sharding might be reduced.

Yup which is why they would likely use the beta format they have primarily used , well everything you said except for the part about tourists.

Theres another thread talking about this. We looked and there are other items in vanilla, blues even that are available early and stay BiS for some classes through several raid tiers. Hunters for example get a weapon in BWL and use it until literally Kel Thuzad. Thats probably why there’s muted reaction to this.

Classic is full of early items that stay BiS for LOOOOONG times. You don’t just replace every item every tier like Retail. You never did. So people just aren’t stressing it.

Can you really compare a rare drop from Chromaggus in BWL to a chest that drops in BRD on day one of Classic? from an event that you can easily 2-man farm at 60? or you could even get it to drop while you’re just doing quest runs there in your 50s. Imagine that, it drops when you’re level 57 doing a BRD quest run and you never replace it until Naxx.

It’s not about items staying BiS for a long time, it’s about loot anomalies that were updated in 1.10 as a catch-up mechanism and are super easy to get while being too powerful.

People will just horde them waiting for the updates, either way. It’s not like the first time around, people know what changed.

I’m most interested in playing this Summer, not in 2022.

How many museums make sure to recreate the diseases and plagues when recreating a historical setting like 12th century Rome?

Would it be better to compare the 2% crit trinket thats available right away and stays BiS for many for just as long?

Cmon, keep it real here. Items being available early and staying BiS for many classes is not uncommon in classic. We can keep bringing examples if you insist; but I think its easier to argue that you want this for accuracy’s sake, rather than pretending this is going to be some major abnormality in the game, when its not. That trinket is easier to get than this chestpiece for Warriors.

And yes, the bow is a fair comparison, its not a rare drop off Chromag… its right in the mix with a lot of the items at 8-10% chance to drop. And its one of 3 total upgrades in weapons that Hunters get the entire expansion at end game.

Its the Rhok’delar > Ashjre’thul > KT bow. 99% of players of classic never even saw KT live in retail vanilla. So you are talking 2 total weapon upgrades after hitting 60 for an entire expansion.

If we are talking just wanting progressive itemization for the sake of recreating the accuracy? Im in agreement with you. But I disagree with saying its going to ruin the game without it, and that its some terrible tragedy that an item so good is introduced so early. Other classes have items that are just like that.

Or people could just get

You know how much dps losing out on that ~0.75% crit and 10 AP will net? Maybe 10? Stop blowing up how impactful these changes are.

I’ve always tanked as a warrior so I’m not the go to source for dps warrior gearing…However, every BiS list I have found shows a chest in BWL and another in AQ40 that are better than the Gladiator one.

I really feel like the large majority of people perusing this forum have zero idea how impactful the lack of progressive itemization is to trivializing the early stages of content. Sure, MC and Ony aren’t necessarily tough raids but I would rather be able to experience the content as it was supposed to be rather than being able to roll through it with even more ease because the company is being lazy & cheap. Every class is going to have more stats than they should during such early content. Casters are going to be able to obtain 3% more hit, melee/ranged will be able to get up to 4% more hit, not to mention just a ton of additional stats in general. It’s going to make raiding a complete joke…

It’s not even about that though, it’s about character progression. That blue chest you quoted will be replaced and there are other alternatives to it even in Phase 1 like Cadaverous Armor etc. When you put Savage Glad and items like it in Phase 1 in their 1.12 state you will not replace them for a super long time and it’s a terrible feeling when the drops you get from multiple raid tiers are worse than the gear you farmed in BRD when you just hit 60 (or even before 60).

Also if anything, Blackhand’s Breadth is a good example exactly why you shouldn’t have these loot anomalies if they’re avoidable (and in this case not even Blizzlike). And Blizzard has the data to make it right, they’ve shown this by recreating all the pre-1.10 loot tables and pre-1.10 data is all you need to fix these items.
