Progress Lost During DDOS Attack

I did a Mythic +14 Spires of Ascension on 12/15/2021 and the DDOS attack started during the run.

2 players DC’ed but since I was playing with my brothers (heals, tank, dps) we decided to just 3 man the last 2 bosses

We got loot from the dungeon just fine but we noticed that it didn’t give us any M+ rating.

We aren’t hard core and we don’t get Spires too often so even an over time by 15 mins would have given us rating.

I contacted support about it and this is what they said:

I understand that recently, when you were playing, there was a server outage and this affected your rewards for that run.

I’ve taken a look into this and I’m afraid that Blizzard’s Customer Support cannot provide compensations due to server issues. I agree that it is frustrating and I hope measures are taken in the near future to prevent this from happening again but a compensation cannot be made at this time.

I understand that this wasn’t the answer you were looking for and I wish I could do more for you.

If you need help with something else or if you have any other question, please let me know, I’m here to help.

Is this right? Is this blizzards stance on server issues now? I appreciate the apologetic attitude of this GM but this seems like a no brainer. Maybe they just have no logs of the instance being complete, but we did receive loot, why was that not taken away?

It’s one thing to get DC’ed and not complete a run, I get it there is no fair way to compensate for lost opportunity. But we completed the run, last boss down, key downgraded to a new key, loot received, why is this grouped in the same category as lost loot opportunity.

Unfortunately server issues create problems for logs, in that GM staff can not provide the service you requested, which is the meat and potatoes of the answer you have already received.

I understand this this not convenient, as a fellow player *** I totally empathize. Hopefully you can progress along with out further mishap.

That has always been our stance. While it is unfortunate, server outages happen and I’m afraid, regardless of the reason, we’re mostly unable to provide compensation for that outage.

In the rare instance that we’re able to verify a boss kill we may still be able to distribute loot, but in most cases when a realm goes offline suddenly many of the most recent logs are also lost.

Different aspects of the game are handled and saved by different systems. In some cases, the loot that was received may have been saved but other aspects of the game are not. It can also happen with professions. A character creates a bunch of items gaining some skill points then the realm crashes and when they come back they have the completed items but the skill gains are lost.

In this situation, even if we had the logs our staff is unable to adjust rating. It is simply not something that they have access to, sorry.

Might I add that if you’re over the time limit by a certain amount, you won’t get rating. I can’t find where it gives the exact amount but in this it even says if you’re over time by a massive amount, you get no rating: https://www.wowhead.com/news/how-blizzards-mythic-rating-works-in-game-mythic-score-explained-in-patch-9-1-323046

You get leeway till a certain point but 15min seems a bit high. I think I’ve gotten 0 rating for keys for ones like that myself. Get back up and try again, sounds like you got some folks to run with! Happy holidays and sorry it happened :frowning:

I’m fairly certain you don’t get any rating if the completion time is greater than 140% of the upgrade timer.

For example, if a dungeon has a 30 minute timer, you’ll receive rating up to a completion time within 42 minutes. At 42:01 and beyond, you get goose eggs.
