I got an email a couple of days ago about my account closure and i’m scratching my head while also devastated that my account just got perma banned. I don’t know what programs triggers blizzards anti cheat or if it’s because i’m chronically online because I have extreme insomnia but I am thoroughly confused.
NOTICE OF ACCOUNT CLOSURE**
Greetings,
We have closed this game account due to exploitative activity involving unauthorized cheat programs (commonly known as hacks).
After appealing I got a response Greetings,
This action has been taken in accordance with our Terms of Use and our In-game Policies ( https://blizzard.com/support/article/42673 ), which all players acknowledge and agree to prior to playing. These policies and conditions allow us to maintain a fun and safe game environment for all of our players.
I am genuinely confused. I have theories to why maybe blizzard thinks i’m cheating. My first theory is that I have severe insomnia. I got banned after staying up for 2 days straight 5 hrs of sleep and 2 days on again. After I woke from the second 48 hr gaming session I received an email saying I was banned for using cheats. Extremely confused because I am a avid FPS/Arena gamer so I hate cheating beyond anything else and was also very upset because I missed the last 2 days of queing arenas in mop in order to try to get a r1 title. I put in an appeal and it was denied. So now i’m trying to come up with theories of what programs my pc is running that could possibly get me banned and there’s not very many. iCuE that I use for my mouse to make my side buttons work. Wootility for my Wooting 60HE keyboard this makes my inputs faster/ less ms for FPS games. Have these apps ever caused issues with false bans? Those are the only two apps I have running on my PC that I think could cause this issue unless windows has some built in programs to mess with blizzards anti cheat? I don’t really know what to do and i’m kind of feeling hopeless in this situation especially after getting my appeal denied. I need to fix this issue so that this’ll never happen again. I had this once happen to me in 2012 in cata when I was playing for an extend period of time (much less than I am now but still a lot) but I don’t even know where to start. I was told to keep appealing until I get it overturned by my friends whom watch me in discord everyday play so that’s what im planning to do right now. Yes I need to touch grass i’ve been told multiple times.
Well, firstly: We’re not going to guess what triggered what as it won’t help as the hacks team use their internal logs. Removing it now won’t change what their system found when you ahd the game open.
The other, you can appeal until they say to stop. You’ll get the account close for GM herassment if you dog at the topic once they said its over with.
Say for example my account doesn’t get unbanned (which it should) I’m going to be scared that i’m banned for no reason again permanently. Is there a way to give them a green light like hey i’m not cheating i’m just mentally ill and chronically online?
After reading some posts online thats why I came to that conclusion. I can tell you that people who arena don’t account share they DQ very quickly for that and insta ban you for playing on other peoples accounts. I’m guessing you’ve never met anyone with severe insomnia so you just automatically assume they’re guilty of account sharing. If I was banned for account sharing it would say for account sharing but this explicitly said cheats. My thinking is cheats that are used to keep you online. I remember back in OG ccata/mop people used to use their mouse macros or w//e to hit a keystroke every 30m so their account doesn’t logout. I don’t do that
No, there is not. Any third party software not authorized by Blizzard could cause this (yes, including some Windows features, but that generally only affects multi-boxers) They will not give a list, tell you or even hint at what the program may be. Also, just to add, coming here will do nothing either, as the Hacks dept do not come to this forum, nor will the SFA’s here relay any information. This is more of a helpdesk to advise you where to go, in this case it would be to put in an appeal, which you have done. The only thing you can do is wait.
This is not the first time we’ve see this “explanation” to what most would consider to be impossible online behavior (i.e. playing for 48 consecutive hours, then a 5 hour break, then 48 more hours). I do not want to make any assumptions about your guilt or innocence, but please understand that Blizzard knows exactly which computers are accessing your account and from which locations those accesses are occurring. If it’s not the same computer from the same location, they will know.
Of course, some folks might then respond with more “explanations” we’ve all seen before, such as, “I use a VPN, so that’s why it looks like my location changes” or “I use a program to mask or randomize my IP and MAC address for security purposes”.
So, Thuggi, if you are truly innocent, then I truly hope you get your account restored. If you are guilty, then perhaps this isn’t the gaming environment for you.
No one here assumes anything. This forum is Not General, it does not guess, it does not accuse, but it does tend to be more blunt. Not to be mean, but this type of post is a frequent occurrence and many times we see that someone proclaiming innocence, well, isnt. Again, All you can do is wait.
I believe account sharing is filed under ‘cheats’. But generally insomnia has to be really prevalent, to the point you’d scientifically have to be hospitalized, before being banned for being online too much. They do, however, have pretty good tools to know if you account was logged in elsewhere.
Most common is some sort of software on your computer that automates things. Even if it’s running in the background. They do watch for that, and have banned for it. Do you multibox? Multiboxing is allowed, but risky, because everything has to be manually done. Mouse overs using windows features can cause flags, as well as ANY kind of automation.
Another common one lately is if the name on your account is obviously false. Your account and its agreements are legally binding, so a real name is required. If anything flagged your account and they see an obviously false name, forgiven punishments or warnings can be escalated to bans.
Those are the common ones off the top of my head. Sometimes a blue can come along and give you a little more information, but you will rarely get full details. Good luck with your appeal(s).
Just going to throw this out there - Remember, Blizzard can see everything, and I mean everything! Every spell you cast, every quest you do, every time you log in, every location, IP address and computer ID that logs into your account, and every program you’re running. Warden (Blizzard’s anti-cheat software) is constantly being updated to catch illicit programs. The bot making communities are going to tell you their program is safe, I’ll guarantee you it’s not.
Severe insomnia almost never means someone is staying up for incredibly long times. There are ways to do that by other assisted means, however. Trust me on both, as I do have severe insomnia.
Your play habits combined with some of the apps you are using were almost certainly what got you flagged. Wait for your appeal top be heard, there is a chance the apps you are using would not be considered cheats.
I do suffer from severe anxiety which leads to insomnia. I’ve been known to go 3 days with as little as 4 hours of sleep in that time. Believe me, the last thing I want to do when I’m in a zombie state like that is sit at my computer and play wow.
Same here. I hate it, it’s the worst feeling, especially working while having this issue. I have a very hard time being able to concentrate on anything while I’m working (and I’m in retail, stocking and moving a lot), let alone trying to play any video game.
I think someone already touched on this, but don’t do this. It is considered GM harassment and will lead to other issues. You cannot bully the GMs into getting what you want. All you can do is appeal, and once those are exhausted, them’s the brakes.
I also deal with severe insomnia a lot and I can easily say that even if I were playing a video game for 10s of hours straight, there’s no way it would be 100% constant during that time.
I’ve seen a lot of people on the forums try to claim this gaming binge insomnia stuff, to try to get out of botting bans, but Blizzard will know. They can easily check the input logs and running apps to see. Out of all the times I’ve seen claims like these, I’ve seen it overturned one time that I can remember (someone a couple months back, the blue even requested that the person take better care of their health or something along those lines).
I got my appeal back was denied then closed. I don’t know what to do from here but this is extremely weird. I don’t account share all my ip’s are the same. There’s literally no value in having an account with someone else’s work on it. They can check my input logs I literally was spamming arenas for 48 hrs straight with plenty of msges back and forth with people whom i was arenaing with and coming in and out of discord. So again this makes 0 sense. All of the people who know me know I struggle with insomnia and being chronically online. My health is literally deteriorating because of the long hours I am staying up. This isn’t my first stint of staying up past 40 hrs like I did in 2019 ranking in vanilla on my warrior. I don’t need to prove to any of you that I have extreme insomnia but if you want proof you can dm me and i’ll show you the medication the VA provides me in order to sleep and my disability rating for insomnia. I am extremely lost of what my appeal got denied on top of being able to appeal again. I would literally let blizzard put in any program they wanted to check for cheats on my pc to fix this situation and get my account back. Would literally stream me being online for 3 days straight if they didnt believe me. Where do i go from here my account is closed and im 10000% innocent. I’m not a weirdo going on the forums pretending to be innocent. This is actually a real and unwarranted ban
