'Professions' system

It has SOME nice things about it but Blizzard isn’t good at the execution of their ideas so they went in tone deaf and created another sweat pillar instead of something that is genuinely fun and can be made to make some gold back without having to spam trade chat and spend weeks to maybe land on t he thing someone wanted.

I don’t spam trade, and I’ve made multiple gold caps.

Current professions posting boe items and or crafting orders? Really doubt it.

I miss the old professions. The new ones (since DF) are too complicated (meant to draw out play time of course) so I didn’t bother with them except for my main Alch/Herb.

Where all the crafted gear was worthless garbage?

I don’t.

Yes, professions being good and having actual gameplay is a very nice upgrade, and the new concentration mechanic is extremely nice.

I’d say Jewelcrafting and Enchanting have outrageously high mat cost for a lot of recipes. Whether that’s an oversight or it was done purpose, I’m not sure.

50 Storm dust for a weapon enchant is goofy. Same thing with 30 crushed Gemstones for a basic gem craft.

Yeah, I can’t complete any work orders because they dont provide any mats OR the one they didnt provide is 10k gold. Enchanting is an absolute pain in the a$$. Zero public work orders and when i DE stuff, i get ONE Dust…

The good ole days. Get professions to 100, and can craft, gather, cook about anything you feel like. Still had to have some rng luck to get some recipes on occasion, but still didn’t feel like a second job that profs are in current wow. Haven’t touched a profession other than skinning in retail since Wod, and only reason did then was because its about all there was to do in that expansion other than raid logging.

Yeah but we wanted like… cool quests and fun specializations… not trickle fed talent trees, tiered mats and RNG altered finished products. :upside_down_face:

I don’t craft anymore other then maybe my engi if engi has something I can use as a BM hunter if not …I am not going to waste my time leveling up Engi fully…I didn’t in DF cause of this idiot way of crafting…I’ll just mine and herb and sell the raw mats make my gold that way…if finally the dang AH would stay open …

(a) I don’t believe you
(b) that’s fine, don’t do work orders - you’re not MEANT to do them all, every week

I missed it, where is the RNG now?

Inspiration in Dragonflight, yes, but they’ve removed that, now.

The customer is always right about what they want.

The customer that only uses the first part is always wrong.

This professions system has made me rage quit multiple times and we’re only two weeks in. Zero transparency on how things work, and if you don’t spend your days combing WoWhead articles and Youtube guides, your professions get bricked for weeks with zero ability to fix it. It’s so g*ddamn bad. At least give us a way to fix it when our points get spent in bad places because we don’t know any better.

It’s insane to me that it’s better for me to roll an entirely new character rather than just being able to fix my knowledge allocation. It’s borderline brain-damage-inducing to realize that I’m behind for MONTHS because I spent my acuity on knowledge points instead of crafting gear pieces because there was zero transparency on just how much better it is to get crafting items over knowledge points.

I hate this system. A lot.

There’s RnG on lots of things. You need to unlock the ability to use missives and use them to avoid that. On top of that not all crafts can use missives.

The first couple days were decent but now almost all are a combination by being either expensive to complete, requiring recipes I don’t have or even some that I can’t get enough quality.

For instance Alchemy all require 3 star quality.

Use mats to get to 2, then burn concentration to get to 3.

I actually do too.

They had the opportunity to do small changes to switch it up, not this crud.

“Burn Gold in order to progress professions.”

Sounds like the opposite of what I was hoping to accomplish. They turned it from profitable into a Gold sink.
