Profanity in 9.2.5

You’ve never been able to curse in chat.

It’s been a rule for as long as the game’s existed, this is nothing new.

Never said you could. I said i miss the darker tones that used to be prevalent in the game. Like wrath naxx.

And that has nothing to do with it being exactly fear and nothing else.
Hence I say it could as well be aggravation, vexation, frustration, and so on.

If the matter is a hidden profile, it categorically is not.
The posts are right there in front of you, what he is saying is right there in front of you, the moment he says it. Address that instead of sputtering about a hidden profile.

Oh, gee, I wish I could read minds like you. Would make life so much easier.

I find this position to be odd. Some of us just prefer to use cleaner language. It’s not like using profanity is ever a requirement in normal modern society. I’d go to as far to say profanity is almost always just filler trash, with respects to the English language at least.

If you want to use vulgar language, more power to you. Some of us simply won’t tolerate it, let alone use it ourselves. We prefer a higher standard of decorum.

Again, aggravation at what? Aggravation just because they expect the worst?

You declaring they’re frustrated, not scared, is just you pulling something out of your backside.

As I am the one making the point, I categorically say it was. There are things I want to know.

I responded to his comments, as deep as they were. I don’t watch CNN. I’ve never watched Stelter and wonder how he even has a job in broadcasting. I didn’t vote for Biden. There. Half his comments are settled. No sputtering required.

Don’t need to read minds. They really do keep saying these things in their posts in the other thread.

Let’s be real here. The average player is pretty toxic. Toxic doesn’t necessarily mean they curse. It means their reaction to darn near anything they dislike is going to be hurtful in some way.

This certainly isn’t true. Language has way more nuance than that. Language is way more complex than that.

Connotations, etymology, rhetoric, tone, conjugation, etc. etc.

Words are not just words. I’m not sure where you got that impression from.

If people use profanity, I usually have zero problem with it. However, that being said, about 20 minutes ago I declined someone for M+. I didn’t say anything to them, I just declined. I then received a message telling me I should kill myself, and that I was a school shooter. Less than a week after the incident in TX, and these are the kinds of things I get because I didn’t pick someone for my key. If you want to swear in a BG, I can understand that to some extent. If you want to be threatening, and violent towards someone I find that very different.

My post got flagged even though I didn’t actually use swear words… Prudes are everywhere.

Masked profanity violates the COC just as much as unmasked profanity does. You should consider reviewing the forums’ COC to prevent future violations.

Yeah, that’s not cool. I hope you reported them and then tossed them on ignore.

Oversensitive tots is all it is. Better off not communicating in the game chat anymore if you can help it. Even simple disagreements get the crazies to come out and report.

Although i hear discords gonna be getting more soon so maybe there will be wow channels on there for text and talk.

Hell you dont even have to cuss to be toxic. Ive seen that first hand. So im not seeing how this contract will change anything.

It wasn’t masked profanity. It was an attempt to point out that one is “bad” and one is “good”. Sorry that you are not able to understand that. Not everyone is smart enough to grasp that words only have meanings that you ASSIGN them.

Sticks and stones and such…

Realistically I would assume it would just make it easier to ban people.

I mean if thats what they’re going for then it makes it even more paramount to just avoid in-game chat permanently.

Ive seen people flip a gasket just over simple disagreements so this just spells disaster.

By definition, it is masked profanity. Do you know what masked profanity is?

This is an incredibly peripheral and juvenile understanding of both the politics of language and interpretation.

Are we really living our lives by a rule they say in Kindergarten? You think that rule is all-encompassing enough to cover all the complexities of life and language?

Also I find it interesting that you assigned the missing letters to make it a “bad” word. I could have been talking about shot or shut. Or Fick… You should work on your “dirty” mind.

the profane words were created in YOUR mind.

Blizzard doesn’t agree. They make the rules.

Feel free to report posts that you feel are unproductive and off-topic, though. Also, easily 90% of those threads on a “certain topic” are trolling threads made by people who oppose those ideas who are actively trying to make the people who actually hold those beliefs look bad and kick up a big long argument, so. Maybe tell your dudes to stop doing that, if you want to see less discussion on the subject.

My brother in sweet baby cherub Jimminy Cricket, if the post above that got reported into non-visibility for you is an example of what you usually post then no, you weren’t “just saying you don’t want it” and you know it. Maybe try it again without the slurs. Or maybe don’t. That’s also an option.
