I’m stating my peace, guy. That doesn’t mean I want to sit down in front of a computer and program the game for them.
I’m giving my feedback. My thoughts. My opinions.
How that translates to “I WILL DO IT BETTER, JUST YOU WAIT” in your feeble little mind is beyond me. The mental gymnastics you need to go from me stating a grievance and staying I would do things differently to saying I said I would show everyone up is absolutely astonishing to read.

You seemed interested in showing us your legal knowledge. You seem interested in telling us how blizz is messing the game up because of changes you don’t like or can’t deal with.
You make it all sound so simple. So simple even an Apocryphal should be able to do it.

Yeah. You reported it, sucked it up, and moved on because the reward was worth the rigor. People used to ignore trolls and not hang out in heated channels because they didn’t want that. Instead now they demand people change their behavior completely instead of minding their own business. That’s what changed.
I’m a bit of a gearhead but I diverge on the general idea that standard shift is better than automatic. It’s just not true. Fuel mileage is better on automatic, there’s less wear and tear on your transmission, you get faster reaction times, your driving experience is simpler and smoother leaving you to focus on other things. There are still guys that swear by standard transmission. I don’t go out though and demand the destruction of standard shifts and I don’t dump on people for preferring it beyond playful ribbing. Some people just like the older way of doing things and I’m content to let them live their lives that way.
I don’t know why people can’t have that same outlook on Classic. People coming in and demanding changes or Blizzard developers arrogantly assuming they know what’s best for the consumer on topics of taste and subjectivity is equivalent to campaigning for a nationwide ban on standard shifts. I let them drive how they want. It doesn’t affect me.
Oh yeah, the guys making enough money to keep their servers up are really stealing from the billion dollar corporation. If anyone’s doing any stealing in this equation it’s executives and shareholders keeping wages low so they can keep scraping off the top as publishers do. There’s examples of scummy private servers being run by scummy people and I’m not sure if you noticed but people called out those servers, spotlighted it, and left.
That’s an interesting point of fact and I didn’t actually know about that. But it doesn’t change Blizzard has still tried to go after these guys. Laws get changed all the time based on precedent, laws by nature have to change and evolve. I wouldn’t be surprised if the launch of Classic leads to some other changes.
Unfortunately you’re probably right which is why I call people to task about this stuff a lot. I have the integrity to stay off, I know myself. If everyone had that conviction eight years ago we wouldn’t want Classic because the game would not be so radically perverted.

Stealing implies that they offer the product for me to use. But they don’t.
If they did, not only would I pay a sub but I’d pay current market price for Classic WoW. I’d buy a hard copy if I had to.
I’m not spending money for a product I don’t want when I can get that product free.

At this point, with all the arguments from “your” side of the carpet, I don’t think that’s true. . I think the building of the strawman arguments has been in full action the last month. You simply want to say. . SEE. . and storm out… Which is fine… The community would prefer you to stay. But I don’t think that’s what you want. . And I don’t think that is what you have wanted from the start.

They did have the conviction, however it was a vocal minority, and in the end the majority of the player base didn’t understand what changes would do in the long run, however, the changes in Classic, are necessary for the modern times, unless you are willing to micro manage hundreds of realms with ticket support and explain to everyone trying to log in why they have to wait 5+ hours in a queue to play an old game.
I literally said I’d pay even more than what they’re asking. If they set up a GoFundMe for the project I’d probably slap down a whole paycheck if I felt the money was going to good hands. I’m not sure how you walked away from this calling me “cheap.”
Private businesses cannot prosecute people on their own; if it’s not stealing by the law then you thinking it is is, like, your opinion man.
This already happens in tons of fields, especially books and publishing - which I actually did work in for a while. When books go out of print people get them for free from libraries or they download PDFs or something and it’s not stealing because stealing implies that, again, it’s someone’s property for sale and rather than pay for it you took it. That’s not what private servers do at all. They are providing something Blizzard does not.

The fact that they have tried as much as they have to give players classic is pretty satisfactory, the fact that you want to nit pick and be this fussy shows how little you appreciate what has been accomplished. You know we live in a world where so much is taken for granted, and that in the years to come you might have to settle with a lot less. Climate change is going to really eff up peoples lives in ways they have no idea, and you could be more thankful this much is true.
Okay Al Gore, how about we talk about the video game?
We’re allowed to have standards especially after all the community has been through for nearly a decade. You see we’ve nickel-and-dimed away the game we love and we’ve kept giving Blizzard an inch until they’ve traveled a mile away from what we want. Blizzard has 0 credibility in the eyes of most of us. This isn’t just about Classic but about restoring some trust in our eyes.
They’re not doing a very good job right now.

You could go start your own company with your own ideals, or write books, but you chose to be this invested, and realized you are at least getting something, if you want to complain by all means continue, but nothing is ever what we really want or how we imagined it. Compromise is the adult thing to do, if you can’t compromise, stay young and go do something you think will bend to your will. Good luck with that!
Lets be real here, most of those pservers won’t last a month after classic goes live, between people jumping ship for an official blizzard release and blizzard unleashing C&Ds/lawyers on as many pservers as they can.
