Problems with WoW token on choosing sub or balance

I’m having problems redeeming a WoW token towards Battlenet balance. Unlike your video which shows us when right clicking the token purchased from the AH that we get an option for either a 30 day sub or put into a Battlenet balance I for some reason only get the option for a 30 day sub. I want the option to put it into a balance, not a sub. While going through even more none sense of finding info there seems to be some cap, but doesn’t explain it properly nor can I find where my cap is currently at. So I guess I’m out 209,000 gold

First thing to try is a full and proper UI reset. Not a reload, but follow through the steps listed here please.

There are some restrictions too when attempting to convert a token to balance:

One that many miss is that your physical address must be within the NA region. So if you live in the EU region, you won’t be able to convert a token into balance.

Another is that you must have game time on your account currently.

I’m from the states and been playing on an NA server since beta. I’ve been living in Sweden for 10 years and they do have my current address. I pay 6 month subs which gets renewed after December 22nd 2021. Wish I knew all this mess. Saw Blizzard’s video and thought ok. There was NO disclaimer or explanation in that video about these issues. Way to go Blizzard.

If you live outside of the US and have your current address is in Sweden, then you can’t add balance to your account NA account.

On the shop, it has in two different spots “Certain restrictions apply.” If you were able to dredge up the old article with the video, it shouldn’t have been an issue to look into any restrictions. Perhaps the old video could have been clearer, but looking at the date it was posted?

It’s a bit dated.

I am sorry you’re in the spot you’re in, but you can at least get the month’s game time out of it. It’s not ideally what you wanted, but it’s usable for that.

This game finds more and more ways to discourage me from wanting to play this game. Gonna try an authenticator and see if that helps if not I’ll use the token and then cancel the account. I don’t want to pay for a game that pisses me off more and more and this expansion has made me feel like hanging it up and that’s not including their problems that has been in the news.

Whatever you end up doing, I wish you well wherever your gaming takes you. If you’d like to offer any suggestions in what they can do better, please do not hesitate to submit them through the in-game suggestion interface or the appropriate forum. Unfortunately, this one is for players to help other players, so the Devs and such do not come here to collect data.

There’s a NA version of this game and a EU verison.

You’re playing the NA version while living in EU and expecting everything to be perfect, even though those are basically two separate versions of the game?

I mean, I’m not sure what you expected, but NA and EU versions of video gaming have been different for DECADES, and for good reason. Language barriers do not make for good integration options.

OP, if you have not already used the token then I’d recommend submitting a ticket to see if a GM can assist you with your issue (although it sounds doubtful, it doesn’t hurt to ask). However, they make it quite clear in their support articles that once a token is used, any support options go out the window. Their support article also states token purchases via auction house are final. In either case, the forums can’t help here.

Best wishes.

Haven’t used it yet. I’m about to add an authenticator to my account cause that’s what people on a Facebook group believe to be the major problem. I’ve heard others in that group say Blizzard changed the token last week, but I never saw any blue posts about it. I’ve also heard there were other changes that never made it on a blue post.

My game version is an NA version. My account or rather those characters would not playable if I had an EU retail version of the game. Had an issue in MOP and had a Blizzard rep help me fix it and suggested that I buy the digital version when any new expansion comes and to make sure it’s an NA version. Didn’t know the difference back then.

The authenticator isn’t going to somehow magically make your Swedish address a part of the North American region. In your situation, there is simply nothing that can be done to render your token redeemable for Blizzard balance. If you believe that warrants your departure from Azeroth, I wish you safe travels and good luck.

Going forward, if you see disclaimers about restrictions, it might be prudent to give them a glance before committing to a nonrefundable purchase.

Just to touch on this: the reason why there isn’t a blue post about it is because it wasn’t changed in the last week. It been like this a good long time. Years if I’m not mistaken. The token can’t be used to add funds on a Battle net account if the home address isn’t within the region it belongs to.

The token has never not been region-locked.

I’m talking about adding funds to the battle net, not the token itself.

I live in Canada and play both NA and EU. I can convert NA to balance, but not EU. On my EU account I can only use the token for a month of game time.

There is on the website.
EU

NA

I would give feedback using the “Did you find this article helpful” option at the bottom of the support page that has the video.

Going to go ahead and close this. The solution has been marked and additional commentary after a month isn’t really necessary.
