The Light in Revendreth not harming Nathrezim despite them being the ones to instigate it… then again, it doesn’t harm Rena’thal as he freely wanders the Ember Ward
AND stands right next to Z’rali with no ill-effects. Blizzard’s poor writing strikes again.
You, Micah, are neither right nor someone who’s earned my respect; quite the opposite on both counts, in fact.
What specifically makes her Hearthstone abilities “Lightbound”? She’s a paladin, of course she’ll use the Light.
My original theory about the Light’s hatred of the undead was because of the Denathrius’ attempted infiltration of the Light. Venthyr are creatures of Death, so it would have been possible for the Light to develop a grudge against Death.
However, now that Margrave Sin’dane revealed that necromancy is the same, regardless of the force used, I am completely unsure why the Light has an issue with undead.
I see what you’re getting at. To get this thread back on track, what does this have to do with the Titans? I want to her more of your thoughts on this, but I think what you said is an interesting topic worthy of its own thread.
And what do you think in regards to the original topic of this thread before certain people tried to derail it? The Titans, their actions, their motives and justification or lack thereof?
I apologize for that derailment. The topic seemed to have switched to Venthyr for a while, so I decided to comment about that for a second.
For the record, I do agree with most of your points in this thread. I have believed for a while that the Titans were flawed beings.
No, the Titans were not justified in reoriginating countless worlds preemptively to stop the Old Gods. The Algalon fight showed, since back in Wrath, that the Titans’ “cosmically-calculated odds” were not as accurate as they thought. The Old God’s Curse of Flesh ended up being a benefit to the mortal races, in my opinion Free will is not something the titans could grasp.
Just as the Shadowlands expansion explained that the machine of Death was imperfect, and required mortal intervention to fix, I do think the Titans are in the same category.
No apology necessary, the derailment wasn’t your fault And are you going to do a Venthyr thread, because you raised some cool points? Enough so that I’d do a Venthyr thread but I don’t want to steal your thunder.
That was definitely the case in Wrath. It makes it strange that the Titans seemed cool with us when we came face-to-face in Legion (though we had helped them down Argus and had kicked the collective rear of the most important demons in the Burning Legion).
That seems to be the pattern; “cosmic force is broken or flawed and needs mortals to fix it”. I wonder if we’ll see the Titans again after Legion? They’re not dead, just keeping Sargeras locked up.
This always made me scratch my head. I’d guess the main taboo from the Titans perspective was that Sargeras was fully destroying those planets (ie: smashing them to bits) as opposed to ‘re-originating’ which doesn’t destroy the actual planet and/or World Soul.
It has always been my assumption that the Titans don’t necessarily NOT care about mortal beings, but that their priority has always been other World Souls since they are somewhat rare.
Essentially, Azeroth (or any other planet for that matter) needing to be wiped clean would be less of a loss than a corrupted World Soul and eventually a Void Titan.
I am unsure if I will, but I would not mind if you created a Venthyr thread yourself. t would create an interesting discussion.
I’m not sure if the Titans were aware of it. They were killed by Sargeras, remember? Their spirits somehow were sent to Antorus. They most likely never heard of what happened with Algalon. Maybe if they knew what happened, they would regret their actions, considering that mortals also defeated the Burning Legion.
I do believe we will see the Titans, as well as Illidan, later on. This next expansion revolves around the dragons, after all.
I missed this edit. Let me answer. She has an ability that is simply called “Wrath of the Lightbound.” When you use it, she does AoE damage to the enemy team, which is a positive effect, then she does aoe damage to ALL characters who did not use a Holy (Light-based) ability that turn. This can hit both your own team and your opponent’s team, which can be negative.
The theme of this ability is that Yrel is turning on her allies for not being devout followers of the Light. You are meant to put her in a team with other Light-wielders, such as Velen or Anduin.
I see. I’m not sure it ties into piety, just into using the Light. These edgelord devs smh. I wonder how many cosmic forces will get a finger-wagging from our mere mostly-mortal PCs before the story ends.
This “Lightbound” tripe is Malthael’s Reapers, the Tal’drim Protoss, the Scarlet Crusade and Lei-Shen’s Mogu all over again Only recently have I learned just how repetitive Blizzard’s stories are. I think Blizzard is practically repackaging the same story and tricking us into buying it over and over again. I wonder how long until the formula finally goes out of vogue.
On that note, what do you think of the Mogu? The two most noteworthy factions of Mogu as of BfA are the Mogu who fell in behind Lei-Shen and the Mogu who stayed true to the Titans under Ra-Den. I wonder what would happen if they met the Titans.
I’m not sure what I have to say about the Mogu. I doubt the Rajani would turn against Azeroth if the Titans wanted the planet tobbe reoriginated. The Amathet Tol’vir, who appeared in 8.3 were fanatical and wanted to reorginate the planet. The Rajani never reached that level.
Those particular exceptions have made me wonder if the “curse’s” nature might only allow it to affect normal venthyr because they have mortal souls, while despite being venthyr in form, Renethal is more akin to the other Revendreth denizens in that he was “made from scratch” there. So the Light’s curse on the Ember Ward may only affect the venthyr in that manner because it only can affect them that way, with everything else living in Revendreth being inherently resistant to it.
I’m still convinced that the reason Light hurts the undead so much is because the energy used to reanimate most modern undead is partially tainted by shadow.
