Problem with /only/ Darkmoon Faire's skybox

Obviously this would be my first chance to observe an issue - when I got to the Faire, from the overlook near the entrance portal, I could see a band of the skybox, over the ocean, flickering badly and showing one corner of our cubical world. When doing fishing, the water in general has a faint flicker, not so much the sky.

This is ONLY happening at the Faire. I’ve not seen it anywhere in Khaz Algar, Dragon Isles, Broken Isles Dalaran, Northrend Dalaran, or Boralus. I asked friends if they’ve seen it but apparently none of them have gone to the Faire this time.

With a bit of effort, because the flicker rate was so rapid, I managed to get a screenshot of the effect. I will share it on request, as I can’t include a link to it. My only mitigation for the flicker was dropping my graphics quality to 5 or 4.

** Edited to add: ** [forehead thwap] I forgot to note one important thing: When I alt-Z to remove the UI, as for a screenshot, the error disappears entirely. I use the basic UI, with the only mods that might affect it being ReputationBars, a bag modifier, and widgets for coordinates and TomCat’s Tours notice box.

Any UI overlays? Such that come with Discord, or Overwolf.

No, I don’t like those, so no overlays. Just the few widgets.

For what it’s worth, one of the stream team I’m in says his screen gets glitchy every time he goes to the Faire, but he didn’t want to post here himself. [shrug?]

It happens to me and my spouse as well.
Me on a newly built PC (and on my previous 8 year old one) and her laptop.

No idea why, and I’ve only ever noticed in the DMF water.

No overlays here, just a few addons for her, and a lot of them for me.

Seeing the same here. Didn’t notice it last time the DMF was live but saw the line mentioned by OP as soon as I phased into the Fair.

Also observing what OP was with the flicker disappearing when I hide the UI.

No overlay, minimal addons, basic UI.

It’d sure be nice if someone with coloured text would respond to this problem.

This issue is caused when 3d UI elements are being displayed, e.g. having the character menu open or having unit frames with 3d portraits. That is why hiding the UI for a screenshot stops the error. Other ways of resolving the issue are setting liquid detail to either fair or low, or disabling certain graphic compatability settings like async resource creation or multithreaded rendering.

You have coloured text, and you did respond! Not helpfully, but you fulfilled the request.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll try that this coming weekend.

Cool response. More than one reply can be helpful or accurate, and this still requires a bug report.
