hello i have a friend who kleeps asking me to play on a private server with him, but i know nothing about them… isnt that against ToS to play on them? will my account/ip get banned from real WoW if i play on a private server?

Private servers are against the law. As in they are literally illegal to run as they use sten code from Blizzard.
They also are pretty notorious for viruses and key loggers etc.
I’d recommend steering clear of them.

Private servers are stolen property.
We can’t say yes or no if you will get actioned for it, but it is against the rules.
You have bigger risks using an illegal “private” server. You have no idea on how secure they keep your personal information. You have not idea if additional software, like malware, could be installed on your computer by using them. That could have big financial repercussions.

damn. maybe its just time to stop playing wow forever then. all my friends quit SL for private server already lmfao. they already hate shadowlands. and im starting to hate it too. =( i just wish blizzard would pretend to care about their game.

But they do? They cannot cater to every single whim and wish, but if you’re unhappy then there are other games out there. I don’t know what you hate so much about SL but you’ve got options and new patch information coming about officially with Blizzcon today and tomorrow with what’s to come. You’ve also got Classic, and The Burning Crusade coming at some point too.
But again, if you’re so unhappy, there are other games out there. I have never understood the lure of private servers, since even while illegal? They’re watered down and tweaked for this or that. It’s not really WoW, so the argument is kind of moot?

Legal is always going after companies or individuals seeking to infringe on their copyrights. That also includes bot makers, who have faced cease and desist orders in the past as well.

Take a break or something. It’s not a game for everyone, and there are plenty of other games to play.
