Priority Queue

Hello, Blizzard Devs.

I am enjoying the extremely low BG queue times. One minute queue time, though, isn’t necessary. It is nice, and if you can get it to work well, then awesome.

But as it is now I’m waiting a minute to be slaughtered by premade groups. That happening sometimes is okay, the majority of the time isn’t.

To fix the queue problem research a priority queue (computer science, see wikipedia).

The queue ought to have several priorities to help match players, including:

  • Time in queue
  • gear level
  • number of players in a group that queues

I’d probably try to prioritize matching based on gear level first. Then group size. Then time - as time progresses I would “erode” the prioritizing strength of the other factors (the only two of which I suggest here being item level and group size).

Sounds like an interesting programming problem to solve. Should be fun. Good luck.

Or they could just cap the ilvl for unrated BGs at whatever the unrated conquest gear ilvl is, make sure each group has an even number of healers and go with that.

This already exists for all but item level. Makes how snarky you are extra hilarious

“This already exists…”

I believe you. And if I tell you I eat healthy and get plenty of exercise but you see I’m obese what might you conclude about my diet and exercise? Not as effective as we would like.

(edit: Same author as original; not trying to be weird; I clearly don’t post here often; didn’t know a character was assigned to a post.)

in bfa at least solos and premades would end up in two different games for the most part. you would still have a few solos that made it into premade games to fill the roster, but for the most part it was premade vs premade. not sure if this was scrapped in SL as the queue code was changed. there isn’t a noob bracket anymore either, so H1-29 play with everyone else now as well. its possible the premade vs premade functionality was removed with it.

but i also think this is more of a result of not equal players on both factions. too many on horde vs alliance and not enough of both in general. you are seeing more an more premades because the social pvp groups are the only ones still playing, likely more because of the social factor rather than the state of pvp.

ilvl equalization is really all that is needed to fix pvp. the ilvl gap in rated content may only be 6 ilvls between brackets, but in unrated its now going to be over 100 ilvls between a fresh cap and a duelist or better geared player.

Heavens, I have too many Hpals wearing the same thing. Hadn’t realized I posted that from an alt. But yeah I think an ilvl limit would completely solve everyone’s issue and without the stats problems of templating for sure.

Instead of limiting ilvl, just boost the ilvl of the nubs.
Bringing people down isn’t fun for the people brought down, it creates a negative attitude.
Instead, bring those up it let’s them experience power and make them go “hey I wanted to rated so I have that power everywhere”

The problem with this game is they forgot about the world part of World of Warcraft.

Also premades aren’t nearly as bad as people keep saying

Premades aren’t happening nearly as much as people think and they just assume every time they get stomped = premade. It doesn’t.

If the other side has a premade there’s also a good chance your team also has a premade

This would also work. I’m fine with either.

make friends have fun!!
