Priests I mean this from the bottom of my heart

Priests.

Stop using life grip on me when I am setting up soul rot…

Thanks,

As this is a priest forum not all of us will be aware of a warlock spell and this is a great opportunity to explain what it is and why you wouldn’t want to be gripped specifically while casting it.

soul rot is needed to set up malefic rupture. Malefic rupture is our main burst phase as affliction. It takes preparation to get as many dots as possible on as many people as possible and then to cast soul rot. If I’m gripped out of range of our enemies while we are setting it up we lose alot of damage. and the whole set up phase is useless.

There are only 3 reasons why a priest would grip you while you are setting up your rotation:

  1. They are intentionally trolling you, in which case, they don’t GAF whether you are setting up your rotation. In fact, they would be happy if you were, in fact, going to mald over it for being inconvenienced.

  2. They see you standing in bad, and they gripped you to save you from your own tunnelling. Or you were supposed to stack up or be in a specific location for a mechanic(e.g. Rashanan soak), and you aren’t because you were trying to pad dps. And that’s clearly a you problem.

  3. They accidentally used it on you as a honest mistake, whether they pressed the wrong button/bind, or meant to have used it on someone else whose healthbar just happened to be right beside yours on their raidframes. Still not a problem that would have been fixed by them knowing you were trying to setup your rotation.

There’s literally no scenario possible that would be remedied by a gripping priest knowing you were in the middle of setting up an oh-so-important cast. If getting gripped bothers you so much, go get a neural silencer then.

I don’t raid. I do pvp so number 2 does not apply here. This is happening in solo shuffle. Also I am a warlock. I know when I need to move and I know how much damage I can take.

So it’s either scenario 1 or 3, point still stands - go get a neural silencer which actually solves your problem.

You can’t take a neural silencer into solo shuffle or blitz because they are rated combat. Only conjured things are allowed.

Priests just need to stop trolling people.

…and you just taught the trolling priests how exactly to annoy you with grip.

Bold strategy cotton.

no worries. i will just report every priest I see.

I wish we could change life grip to pull us towards someone :3

Now we will grip you even harder (pun intended)

And a bad idea to abuse the report system FYI

trolling is a reportable offense. So is game play sabotage. It would not be an abuse of the report system to report priests for trolling me and sabotaging my gameplay. Which if number one in that list a few posts up said priests do it to troll people.

Unless its consistent all the way through your gameplay, it may not be considered trolling or sabatoge.

considering grip is a 1.50 min CD. they would need to use it every time its off CD on you specifically.

And even then, grip is meant to do that BY DESIGN, so you will have a hard time getting blizz to take any action against a priest without consistent data from multiple sources saying the same thing

We will find out.

probably not, as they won’t tell you if they took an action on accounts

Chances are they will just inform you that Neural Silencers are a thing and close the ticket. Like mentioned above it’s very hard to prove it was done on purpose to troll you. ( unless you can get them to admit they did it to troll you in chat before you send the report because the chat log will be sent with the report ). Id ask them politely to stop the first time, if they reply with some troll answer then maybe you can get them actioned for trolling/gameplay sabotage.

If you are in a raid group you can try asking the guild leader to talk to them. Explain you know how much damage you can handle, when to move, and them moving you is actually not helping.

I get it can be frustrating to have happen to you though, especially when there isn’t any danger of you dying. We had 2 priests in our guild who basically only used life grip to troll people while we are trying to buff and get ready for raids - they did it to me once and I immediately asked my friend to pop up his A/H mount mid raid so I could buy some silencers - problem solved. One silencer lasts 12 hrs and I mostly just log to raid now, so one can last like 1-2 weeks.

People trolling with life grip makes me anxious to even use it most of the time unless raid leader calls for it for specific mechanics/reasons. Used to love it in Cata ( it was amazing on that one temple guardian boss to grip people back up to the top ) but now a days people are less chill about being moved against their will, even if it saved them.

I have a focus macro JUST for you! Kidding, but no really I do have a focus macro for it in case I need to babysit.

Neural silencers can not be used in rated pvp content. Nothing but conjured stuff is allowed in rated pvp content. This keeps happening in solo shuffle where the ques are randomized. But priests keep doing it.

Sounds like you overestimate your ability to survive in solo shuffle or at least have questionable positioning to begin with, amongst other issues. Priests gripping you is not the reason you’re losing.

I’m usually not the one that dies in the battles.
