Hey guys, started this priest yesterday as it’s going to be my alt and main going in cata (if cata happens). I’ve gone shadow spec…just wondering if anyone has any tips?.
Some things I’ve noticed myself is if I devouring plague, swp, mind blast then mind flay I go oom pretty quick even with spirit tap and full spirit gear.
I did the swp, then wand away until about level 20. So I just keep doing that? Great mana sustain but very slow kill times.
Heirloom trinket? Enchanted?

Get some mana pots, buy 20-30 per level range
So some people do not believe but if you have heirlooms and can get the glyph of holy nova you can play a holy nova spec from 1 to 58 (60 if you stay in vanilla). It does huge aoe dmg and you can mass pull, sure youll drink after a couple pulls but it’s for me the most fun way to level a priest early on. Just switch to shadow in Tbc.
You can spec holy for more holy nova dmg but I would say disc is safer as you can shield yourself and get the instant/free crit cast for more healing or a crit holy nova. You’ll also get the mana reduction from instant spells. If you have heirlooms trinkets that will also help a bit your mana regen.
Nah no heirlooms, wasted my emblems on plate heirlooms on my Dk I never use now 
Oh then you’ll need plenty of drinks, Shadow does consume a lot.
I am not seeing your server. If not a pvp one, and no plans to live for bg in leveling you can favor spirit and mana in your enchants, gear stats and such.
if pvp, yeah mine has to take hp and stamina. so I know well the fun off going OOM lol.
I just realised, you can buy heirlooms with stone keepers shards right?
It’s not the same ones, they will have resilience so they are worse than normal heirlooms in term of pve. Still often better than nothing moreover when you can enchant them, but when it comes to trinkets the heirloom sp trinkets with mana regen are kinda bis.
Ahhh kk, I think I have about 350 stone keepers shards on my main compared to 7 emblems so i might just buy the cloth shoulder heirlooms and enchant them. What enchants should I run? For shoulders, weapon etc. is it worth spending 200g on 30 spell power on wep at level 20?
There’s no shoulder enchant for leveling. Prob worth to get intellect or sp on weapon, I would probably favor intellect for leveling. +4 stats on chest can help too but not really that big. There’s a couple blue rings and neck you can buy early on that are pretty good near level 30-40. For the neck, amulet of truesight (level 29) should be bis for most of your leveling.
They are 200 shards at the pvp vendor by the WG door.
You can put aldor/scryer on them and it will activate soon as you hit 60
Just take your time ( don’t try to take on too much), SP get better with both gear and talents. They are kind of mana hungry (at least in WoTLK) but they are fun.
Pain, Shield, Wands, ZZZZZzzzz
Yes, but only weapons and shoulders.
And they do have LESS intellect and 1 dead stat 0 resilience.
So they are a little “weaker” for leveling, but the margins are insignificant.
For earlier leveling, I’d just double DoT and wand.
Check the mana cost of Blast vs DoT and compare overall damage. See what’s better.
Wintergrasp sells the resilience heirlooms. These may be less ideal than normal heirlooms but reducing a mob’s chance to crit you isn’t a bad thing.

My Priest has heirlooms including the SP enchant on the staff so YMMV on how effective that is for you as he’s got a lot of SP for his level.
Ok so I’ve been leveling my
Priest the pst few weeks. I’m lvl 62 now. Things MELT. I’m unkillable now with dispersion. I dot everything in sight, hit some mind blasts, some mind flays (vamp embrace auto heals me) and if i get low i disperse heal, or fear disperse heal. It’s a blast.
Shadow priest is terrible to level until mid 30s. Then you hit 40 and your actually pumping single target.
My tips: dot up everything, wand things to death when they’re low (don’t waste mana when they’re low).
Spirit tap will kick in and keep your mana up. Spirit tap is OP. Only spec into the first 3 points until later on.
Also, spell power is king. I prioritize spell power over every other stat, even intellect and spirit bc it makes your bubble bigger your dots bigger and heals bigger.
Now at lvl 62 with procs i have 600 spell power. And things insta die.
Keep grinding. I have 2.5 days played on my priest.
Buy a wand off the AH. Don’t worry about stats. Get the biggest DPS wand you can find. I wanded things to death until i shadowform. Then i nuked and drank a little more.
I see the fun stuff like classic shadowform comes in the 30’s.
the other reason s. priest was tried. The classic one is better.
I think retail recently glyphed this to be better. But yeah…I did not like shadowform on retail when I ran s.priest through bfa or sl.
Its jsut getting there…adds that mental c’mon, get here faster! lol.
