What exactly does skill mean in classic? Gear and rank are literally the only variables. Anyone that isnt a complete rat is going to do the same exact things as everyone else on that class. And the odds of a clueless rat being bracket 1 are about zero.
Also what is stopping you from taking note of any good players you fight in random bgs?
Even tho there is no system in place to measure ostensible skill like an arena rating system it’s not hard to figure out who’s good and who’s crap.
Average skill players can make high ranks without truly being “good” in both classic and modern wow due to gaming the system.
In classic the player can just invest time or more wisely join a roll group and rise to the top over time.
In modern wow it’s different, instead you play the dominant class of the patch in the dominant comp for that tier of competition, meaning your team comp changes as you progress through the system allowing you to ride the wave to near the top.
Being good in a video game is just not something that computer systems can ever effectively quantify or measure.
So entirely wrong, dude. Lots of people without the reflexes or coordination required to be good, lots more who don’t actually minmax things. And skill exists.
Not everybody with a certain class/spec plays exactly the same way. Further, different situations result in playing differently. And… where skill occurs is knowing when to do what, and adapting rapidly to what somebody else does.
Completely agree, when I found out BGs were cross realm I was very disappointed. Kinda just made me lose interest in PvP since it won’t matter. No rivalries to look forward to, just a bunch of random people you will rarely ever encounter again.
And that can entirely vary by your own server experience. It sounds like you had a good experience same realm only a lot of people on the other hand did not.
A lot of people had queue time issues, or the BG’s on their server were dominated by people you didn’t necessarily want to see again. CRBG’s solve both those problems. Or for that matter some times it’s just fun seeing new people in BG’s.
I might be in the minority here but, I think there should be queue time issues for the overpopulated factions. Might make people think twice when server transfers are enabled over time.
They did say it was based on region so while yes they are larger than before they’re not ALL servers like I had worried they may turn out to be, honestly, I don’t think it’s going to really get better overall, they’ve had so many issues and while I love and enjoy much of the game, their choices time and time again show they either have no idea what they’re doing, or don’t care, and I’m not sure which is worse.
I would love to see BG’s be just server specific but then, like on my server for instance, Horde is going to be waiting for a few hours before they get to play. Which, is unfair to them.
My only hope is that the CRBG’s is only like 2 or 3 servers together, not all of them. We will see though. Keeping my fingers crossed.
We can only hope. I know South America got its own; this is why some of the massive server Q’s dropped early on because blizzard opened one way transfer to SA realms and there are several of them
If you are queuing into bgs with complete randoms, you get what is coming to you. Do the smart thing and do it with people in your guild. Get into a party of 5, countdown with all others in your intended raid and then enter queue at the same time. You are bound to get of you into the same bg group
