Preservation spec bonuses

because no one is reading the comments or doing any homework before voting. i feel like we’re gonna have a real bad time in s4 for it.

I’m a big fan of the Echo Reversion playstyle and while I’m certainly not the best at it, I’ve been fortunate enough to earn a few top ranked logs with it throughout this expansion. That being said, I feel like the Season 3 bonuses are the closest to a perfect set we’ve had so far. Not just in terms of how much healing it provides but also in the amount of playstyle flexibility it offers. With the upcoming 10.2.5 changes you can play the Season 3 set with every build that Pres has available and they’re all viable and competitive.

The Season 3 set increases the healing of all of our Empowered Spells through additional Living Flames, which also improves our essence and mana economy by causing our Empowered Spells to generate an additional ~0.5 essence bursts each (0.6 if you have 3 targets for Fire Breath). Then to top it off we get loads of free Echoes, which is wonderful for all Echo-based builds, and even Blossom builds after the 10.2.5 change to allow Reversion to generate additional essence bursts. The 2pc bonus of Season 3 alone is nearly as powerful as the entire Season 2 tier bonuses combined, just less consistent.

The Season 1 set bonus is primarily Reversion based, and yet it would actually provide the weakest Reversion build currently of any of the 3 sets. Worse yet, it would make that weaker Reversion-centric build the mandatory option for nearly all players. If the Season 1 set makes a return it would need to have a complete redesign, not just a numbers tuning. That redesign would also need to include some form of additional essence burst generation for all builds, or else the best option for most players will just be to wear the previous tier at lower item levels and believe me as someone who already had to do that heavily in Season 2, it’s not a good feeling.

I voted for the Season 3 set, but if we’re forced to see Season 1 return then I hope to see a redesign that not only brings its power level up to par with the other sets, but offers as much playstyle flexibility as the current set has. If they want to keep the theme the same then maybe something along the lines of this:

2pc: Empower spells cast up to 2 Reversions on allies healed or a nearby ally who doesn’t already have Reversion and extends the remaining duration of your active Reversions by 2s. Each Reversion can only by extended in this manner up to 2 times.*Note: Reversions from Empowered spells do not apply to or consume Echo. Extension is 1 tick. Max 2 ticks.
4pc: Reversion healing has a chance to cause your next Living Flame to cast instantly, deal 20% increased healing or damage, and have an additional 30% chance to generate an essence burst. Stacks up to 2 times.

I’m really fine with either S1 or S3, as both help with casting living flame to actually get essence burst. While S2’s set does just give you some essence bursts it makes living flame and the essence burst passive on tree feel relatively useless since you often have better things to cast than living flame to try and proc.

Remember the s1 tier set was changed and won’t work the same way! Also Reversion is a boring playstyle. I voted for s2 because having an extra hot in SB was nice. Something else is they did nerf Rashoks trinket and so we do need to think about our mana more. Cannot spam TAs like we used to.

Leave this to the theory crafters.

Noooo not the season 1 set bonus… I’ve always run green… Guhh let us choose what to play with instead for a change, gadzooks…

I feel like this is exactly why they should have posted links or pictures of the tier sets people are voting for so there isn’t any gray area for people to get confused in. I am kind of new to preservation evoker this season and some of last so I wouldn’t have known. Probably many others like me out there.

Maybe they will reset the vote and place those in there. Probably not, but who knows.

Personally I loved season 2 so that we could hot up with Spiritbloom but I remember season 1 being a fun set but not as great after the changes they made.

What is wrong with you people that are picking S1?.. Im assuming you guys do not want to perform well. S1 set is by far the worst. Instant living flames… oh please. Baddies are the majority after all. what a bunch of noobs.

How can you call any playstyle garbage when your parses seem so mediocre.

S2 was awful and boring wdym

well said season 3 offers the ability to play all 3 specs and adds essence burst procs that are nice for nothing extra the instant cast living flame was neat but forces most players to play 1 build to be competitive so it is very limiting and no matter how much you might wish it they won’t revert the changes back to season1 levels and voting and wishing won’t change that.

People … DO NOT VOTE FOR SEASON ONE!! HECCCCCC!!! .__.

Living flame was so underwhelming until this season, but I’d rather see new set bonuses. Getting essence procs sometimes after using an empowered ability feels good.

I honestly think the people trying to troll the Aug vote came here and voted for s1 instead.

yea no, s3 tier is leagues better.

Of all the things they could add to make the spec more interesting, they instead add harsh limits like a HoT cap and sapping mana.

My best guess is whoever came up with the original ideas for Bronze stole the gf of the guy who is in charge now. Or stole their lunch out of the break room fridge. Idk this feels personal.

Overall I think the Season 1 bonuses are the most interesting, but they are by far the weakest.

Season 2 is very boring and safe, but decently powerful.

Season 3 is the most powerful, but wildly random and not in a particularly interesting way.

As a result, I voted for season 1. That said, both bonuses need massive buffs to be brought up to season 3 power level.

At this point we all know that a completely Reversion-centric build is dead going forward from 10.2.5, so the 2 piece bonus will need to be much better. A small increase to the potency of the buff as well as a larger duration increase could put it in a place of feeling powerful enough to be a good tier bonus.

The 4 piece bonus is a lot harder, as it is very good in M+ but worth almost no healing value in raid. As it stands, there is no reason anyone would wear S1 4p instead of S3 2p at a lower ilvl, so it needs to be buffed a lot for raid or nobody will wear it.

I believe the healing increase to Living Flame could go up some, likely another 10-20% to make it a good spot heal. Additionally, I think it should make the Living Flame cost no mana so there is no need to weigh if the Living Flame is worth casting, you can just cast it and get the damage or healing and Essence Burst chance.

First, I think it would make the poll 1000% better if the tier set bonuses were listed so people knew exactly what they’re voting for.

I personally loved S2 set the best just for the fact that I could control when I get my essence bursts instead of relying solely on RNG. The spiritbloom HoT was also pretty nice.

However, if living flame got a buff and if they changed the new reversion extension cap to be significantly higher (preferably just revert the change), then maybe I’d be more interested in S1 set.

I voted for S1. S2 is boring, but powerful. S3 is kinda fun. But nothing is as good as S1 4-set for making this spec fun to play.

The spec feels totally empty and utterly terrible in M+. Even in 20s which are pretty easy I often feel like I’m missing core parts of my rotation. Relying on hard casting Living Flame, or fully channeling empowered spells, or hell, using Verdant Embrace or Twin Guardians feels terrible compared to any other spec. Evoker’s HoTs are pretty weak, and don’t keep up with the damage profile in 25+ keys. Comparing it to other healing spec, who have faster casting spells, with less mana, that do much more healing and some of them have additional effects on top, and then sharing the same utility with Augmentation Evokers really limits this specs ability to play M+.

Really we’re just a worse disc priest in M+. We do about the same DPS (more AoE, less ST), but are missing PI so it’s not even close. We have less healing over all, less burst healing and more set up required per burst, with longer CDs in between. And we have longer cast spells, less ability to cast while moving, and much more specific AoE healing profiles (you have to somehow convince your DPS to line up for TA or stack for blossom, and stay in front of you for DB, or even worse, all 3).

Playing the spec in Raid is an absolute blast though, Blossoms is kind of boring but it cranks damage, and has a lot of depth to planning and tracking resources. Playing generic echo or reversion builds is a great mix-up when different healing profiles require different stuff. I just wish we could somehow have that S1 4-set back so you can burst single target heal while moving in M+, that’s really all we need, and why I voted for S1 despite the nerfs.
