I mean it was fun in some ways, like making stats we would not use being able to stack it so high they became useful, but it lasted a long time and part of a expansion. It was a risk a huge one, and it paid off it some ways not in others.
A limited time event, and they can’t even stir the pot. It makes me wonder what the heck they are doing.
Corruptions were a mixed bag for me. It sucked when you didn’t have them, it was such a timesink of effort to get them, it was awesome when you got them, and then Blizzard just rips them all away. Like wtf man. Blizz, stahp wasting our time with systems that disappear.
I’m not referring only to the faction war. We’re literally always at war with something in the games story. In this case, it was supposed to be the scourge invading which is what’s supposed to draw players to Icecrown since history is repeating itself. I distinctly remember the Cata prelaunch event as well. It was literally PvE mobs that everyone AoE’d down and there was still a plethora of complaining that players hated being inconvenienced.
I’m not stating that every single time you leave the city you should be mauled to death by a tiger. But at least in some cases like the Scourge prelaunch event I see no reason to only have it be a WM only event.
My point is, you can’t gank if it isn’t a person with intent to bring discomfort. If you don’t know who the creature is (as a person) it’s not ganking it’s roleplay.
Normally I’m all for choices and fun- But 1-2 weeks of Zombies running amok during the most trivial time in an expansion is fun. I turned on Warmode and all it got was camped by a couple of Alliance players on my monk which isn’t quite as enjoyable as being killed by another player infected with a zombie curse meant to add a bit of dumb flavor and chaos.
I think nerfing it made the zombie part pointless and there is nothing fun about a fresh daily grind after an EXPANSION of grinds and before a another expansion of grinds.
Wait, which scourge invasion are you comparing this one to? The vanilla or WotLK? I’m not sure it matters much, since in both instances the game was in a completely different state. It’s like comparing apples to orangutans. In vanilla, ilvl didn’t really exist. A good fresh 60 could take a bad 60 with great gear. That was less true in WotLK, but it was still far and away more competitive than what we have now. Maybe you have fun roflstomping people for a short time, but that gets old fast for everyone, griefed and griefer alike. If it doesn’t, you may want to talk to someone about that (not looking at anyone in particular there - I’m just saying…).
Is Kharen complaining about the same casuals that she said wanted the covenants to stay as they originally were . The same casuals she was defending in another thread ?
^^^^ LOL
As someone on a RP server this is so true that it hurts.
Maybe if there was a mount reward that was only available to people that opted for WM during the event. I fear as it is there won’t be enough participation in this event for it to be anything meaningful. The original was 10/10 fun partly due to the inconvenience of it.
There are a few people saying that we won’t even remember this event in a few months… and they’re probably right. But everyone that was around remembers the original. I wonder what the difference is…
I agree, sure we had people upset about it, but this talk of how most hated it, and blah blah. I don’t recall that at all. Just the people who did not like it was very loud.
I won’t lie other then killing blight caller and getting 2 items out of the pre-patch i have no desire to do anything else they will be replaced in 2 weeks anyways that said i loved BFA but this indeed sucks. And i normally do pre-patch non stop for days.
I mean more of a shared experience to create community that’s less silo’d and compartmentalized. Some of the more memorable - or perhaps controversial - events in wow were because that event persisted through the entire world of the game (on that server): the gates if AQ, the blood plague incident, the zombie invasion, etc
Now, there’s so much split up that it makes it harder to have a shared experience.
However, that’s just our difference of perspective.
I’ve literally only heard people say the LOVED the scourge event.
In fact, from what I’ve heard it was the best prepatch. I started in Cata, so the most interesting one I’ve done so far was the Legion invasions. I was excited about this one and… Promptly let down.
Oh. Good use of semantics but does not change that the person who is wanting to turn others into zombie does not care about anything related to RP.
I would even consider this on RP servers but the vast majority only that wpvp that the event involves.
And I prefer to choose if, when, where and with whom I do RP.
