Hot take: Prepatch is fine. It’s only there to tell a short little tale and lightly gear up a couple of slots/unlock some forbidden mogs.
McFluffins for WoW dev 2020
I think that is what bothers me the most really.
lets set aside the whole grief thing. Pre patch is a time for Blizzard to flex creative juices, to come up with something amazing, something rare. Something that brings memories and hypes us up for the future.
This pre patch makes BFA look like Disney World. I had more fun doing Islands.
Alright - so…I’ll step back a bit.
Listen. I’m all for the idea of a chaotic and catastrophic pre-patch - but I don’t want it to be grueling. Even just doing the rares in northrend right now is really hard with WM on because it’s often one of you vs 40 of the other faction.
I guess I’m jaded against wpvp. It’s not the same sitch as it was in Wotlk. Factions are more unbalanced than they ever has been - we know that for a fact. As much as we’d all love something like that old scourge event, with a little more balance, we just can’t have it right now. One faction would dominate each server - there wouldn’t be any chance for pushback. That’s why we’ve GOT warmode - it was almost a necessity.
Until we can somehow fix the faction imbalance, we’re just going to have to go with content like this, y’know?
That’s true for some people, I can appreciate the thrill of a good battle yet for others it’s not. Some people like myself who play non-warmode enjoy a good storyline, puzzles to solve, interacting with the environment or advancing efforts in group teamwork. A good example would be the Ahn Qiraj opening of the gates event. They could have thought up something along those lines, opening up the Maw or something.
But this isn’t like that. People can do the questlines without opting in.
They could. By not playing, or by not doing the quests. That said, the war of thorns was a questline. People can opt out of the pvp part and still do the prepatch questline in this case.
If the “us” you are using here refers to you and others like you, that’s a minority of the game population who you want to be allowed to harass the majority.
People who like wPvP already have the ability to use warmode, and the majority do not use it. That means they don’t want anything to do with being griefed by sadistic sociopaths who want this game to be changed to pander to their proclivities.
Even with more chaos, this prepatch would be boring.
No, it is not any only those folks who love ganking and ruining someone else’s gameplay so they can get a few giggles thinks so.
Hey - really quick - thank you. I was starting to go down a rabbit hole shouldn’t have.
I mean it’s World of WARcraft, not World of Storycraft.
QFT.
Feel the exact same way. Personally, I prefer a world that’s willing to challenge me and constantly present new threats even in the open world.
In a game, some times being a victim in said game can be fun. When someone ganked me when I played on a pvp server. I did not care, or get upset. Even if they slowed me down. Even if they camped me. It did not upset me, because they might be having fun…and the threat of them up until that point added to the fun for me.
My point is, that players who don’t like that. Could not put up with it for two weeks for us who would enjoy the chaos?
The fact they played it this safe, and this is what we are getting is what bothers me the most.
Two weeks from now nobody is going to remember this prepatch, who cares. Hell, I don’t even remember War of Thorns.
No problem Willow I’ve gone down that hole before and there’s nothing but self-loathing and regret lol.
What are you even talking about?
It’s meant to be an RPGMMO. If it was all about war and fighting then warmode would be compulsory.

What do you mean. Its always been about war. It’s literally World of WARcraft
You could work around it.
People who don’t want to should have to. So WM only is a good solution.
I hear you - but I’d be more willing to put up with it if i had a chance to push back. Y’know that southshore battleground? Where there’s the chance that your team can make a miraculous recovery?
I love that. You could take out the timers and I could do that all day. Back and forth, back and forth, I love pvp when it’s fair. Getting ganked by one squad only to rally up another? Awesome! I’ll go for it! That’s why I kept WM on for so long - that’s the environment I wanted to encourage.
I don’t gank people, when I’m out and about. The most I’ll do is a single kill, bow, and walk away. I’m not in it to stomp people’s corpses into the dirt for fun. I guess I’ve got more Saurfang in me than Sylvanas. XD
Listen I understand what you’re looking for - but a good chunk of us don’t want that. Can we agree that PvP is better when it’s fair? Like at least the same amount of players in a battle?
