Prepatch is changing mount riding speed/riding

Once the servers comes back online you will see that riding speed and riding in general is changing. They have gotten rid of the slow ground riding speed and straight up giving you fast ground riding instead. Flying well say bye to the old speed the new speed is now 400 ish speed versus what 300 ish speed before but still a massive difference.

Yep.

Yep but the bigger change is most flying mounts will now also be able to use “Dragon Riding”.

But you still have to use the Dragonflight mounts if you want to carry a friend. Normal mounts won’t let you.

This isn’t news we’ve known this for months now but ty I guess

Ah, blizzards crusade against progression during leveling.

They keep trying to save it by making it an irrelevant nothing part of the game and wonder why it’s not working.

The speed hasn’t changed? It’s always been 400ish percent. Does no one use Deja Character Stats?

Can someone link me where they’re removing riding skills?

Pretty sure that “400%” flying speed is still the normal flying speed we’ve always had.

It’s always been movement speed is 100%, ground mount was 60% to make 160, epic for 200, flying 250, epic flying for 410.

Unless a dev came out and explained how the mount system is going to work going forward?

Yep. It is. I’m going to read the patch notes to see what everyone is talking about.

For the point that is important.

Not for tbc flying. Not at all. Unless you’re including base speed?

Thank you for doing that just as I was opening the patch notes myself.

Right at the bottom of the Skyriding part. Both ground mounts and flying mounts will have greater speeds. (EDIT: well, ground is just getting rid of 60 and just have 100 as base)

It doesn’t state in the PN that Skyriding is still faster than normal flying, like how current Dragonriding is? Is this still the assumption going forward?

is this true?

So I don’t understand the 420% because that’s what it’s always been, but here’s the changes:

Deja Character Stats has always shown the correct bonuses and percentage for movement speed. So I assume the base speed is going up and Deja will show a new speed.

Let me go find the old Wowhead notes I listed once for someone else on mount speed. Give me a moment.

Edit— here’s the old speeds calculated ages ago. Deja’s addon may explain also how they add up their percentages, so this is where the confusion came into play:

While I think the Dragonriding speed is a little lower than it is in the Dragon Isles (like it currently is in old content) it still ends up being faster than steady flight.

Considering when I last did timed tests, Dragonriding at gliding speed was still 2x faster than regular flight, even the slightly-slowed Skyriding and sped-up Steady Flight doesn’t do a whole lot to change that one is still far faster than the other.

Prepatch is fine. TWW? A major fail with its senseless and stupid locking of Steady Flight behind the (outdated, pointless) Pathfinder requirement.

If I have been forced to - yes, you “no one is forcing you” mob - use Skyriding exclusively from 70-80 why am I going to bother with Pathfinder at all at that point??? I’m not.

[I still haven’t purchased TWW. This issue could kill my interest.]
