Premades Are Ruining Random BGs – Let’s Fix It

Hey all,

I really hope someone from Blizzard reads this and takes it seriously. As an avid player of the game since The Burning Crusade, I absolutely love this game and just want to see it grow and thrive. I’ve been part of the WoW PvP scene for years, and I’ve spent plenty of time running community premades in random battlegrounds. I know how it works, I know how effective they are, and honestly, I know how boring they get once you’ve done enough of them.

The truth is this: if you have a half decent group and even basic coordination, the other team usually does not stand a chance. It is not competitive, it is not fun, and it is especially brutal for casual players trying to just jump into a few games and enjoy the game.

Random BGs are meant to be a more relaxed, casual experience. But over time they have turned into a farm for premades that want easy wins and honor farming. Meanwhile, casual players are getting steamrolled and discouraged from queuing up ever again. I have seen it firsthand — people give PvP a try, get stomped by stacked community groups for 2 to 3 queues in a row, and never come back. That is bad for the game.

Rated BGs exist. BG Blitz exists. If you want to queue as large groups of players or just two of you, there are proper formats for that. Random battlegrounds should be exactly what they sound like — random. Either make it solo queue only or cap it at two players per group like Shuffle does. That still lets people play with a friend or queue with a healer, but stops the full domination of pugs.

Honestly, anyone that is any good at PvP does not need a premade to win in randoms. And if you do, what are you really achieving? The challenge is gone, and all you are doing is farming players who do not even have a chance to respond.

A fix here would bring a lot of players back into PvP and make the scene healthier overall. More people queuing means better matches for everyone, more variety, and fewer blowouts that just feel miserable for one side.

Make random BGs solo or duo queue. It is time.

Can’t tell if trolling considering the lengths OP’s guild’s leadership’s gone to be horrible but sure, benefit of the doubt. Hard agree.

To be fair, BSG aka whatever Luigi inspired weirdness they are now, do attempt to fight other premades - but only when they think they can win and only by unleashing every exploit known. (Turning down their graphics while firing off a load of pixel vomit to lag the enemy was a past favourite.)

These critters never fight fair and run like hell from an even match but are always the first to jump on the forums and squawk and roll vids from whatever win.

It’s pathological, but they make for fun in-game moustache twirling villains. Amusingly pathetic and ultimately own worst enemies.

I used to be too until I saw what was really going on. I didn’t feel good steam rolling pugs and to be honest, it’s really boring and made me feel ashamed of myself for the players around me spamming /lol emotes at people who couldn’t get out of the graveyard. I decided it was pugs or nothing.

Now, if I get queued up with one, it’s not intentional, but I definitely do try to avoid seeing them, and being on them. If Ally are on their premade kick, I’ll swap factions for the night and fight with the Horde.

The majority of us agree. Blizzard continues to be silent on the issue despite the years of outcry.

It’s done irreversible harm to PvP and even the game in general. What was once a main stay of content is now almost entirely lost.

I agree with alot of it but idk about purely solo. Id still like an option to que against premades as a solo player. I like beating the 5man i see the other pugs complaining about in chat. “Oh no here is so and so again we lose guys” puts a smile on my face and lets me know im in for a good challenge. But yea i stopped qing with friends during sl because the games were just too boring rolling everyone we q’d into (random bg heroes i miss yall). So i que solo fishing for a good game.

And that’s the thing we the PvP community as a whole need to understand:
World of Warcraft PvP relies on new blood and casual players.
Without them, the entire non-rated AND rated instanced PvP of this game would collapse.

Premades stomping them so hard they quit is just hurting ourselves in the long run as less and less people queue for battlegrounds. And then we wonder why Blizzard spends so little dev resources on PvP.

Ya i didnt realize that, but overall “random” bgs should be jsut that… Random.

No, they are not ruining them they are energizing something that is as dull and dreary as can be. Blizzard has not put anything meaningful into NEW battlegrounds OR allowing 40 man raids to queue together for the epics. Until Blizzard actually starts giving some priority to PVP premades will exist and should. They have been around since the first AV was played.

Doesn’t matter how long premades have existed.

Right now they are a detriment to the game and the PVP community. Especially considering all the circumventing they do to get a premade into the same lobby. (Also known as cheating/exploiting)

Big red flag when the game doesn’t allow you to queue up with 15/10M for a random or 40M for an EBG and yet you queu syncers claim it’s not cheating and allowed.

Delusional take. Quit sniffing your own farts. You’re the rot that is killing PvP from the bottom up. New or even veteran players don’t want to waste their time with this trash. That you can’t be honest about that is legitimately incredible or you actually believe that and completely out of touch with reality.

And they weren’t an issue for more than a decade because they were fairly rare.

If you really, actually believed that you would just wargame either against yourselves or other premades.

They are, because random refers to the map selection

Is there anywhere that states that explicitly, either on the in-game UI or a blue post or support article?

Yes, hover over random battlegrounds in-game. “Compete against enemy players -->inside a random battleground<–”

Go into the adventure guide and look up random battlegrounds, “battle other players inside a random battleground!”

What else would it mean? “Random battlegrounds: play with random players but definitely not groups of players”?

Absolutely agree. It’s really refreshing to see so many people on the same page here. I remember bringing up a battleground blitz idea years ago, and I’m sure others had the same thought back then — and now it’s finally a thing. BGB is great, aside from the MMR trap that can happen on alts. If they could fix random BGs by removing premades, that alone would be a huge step forward for the community. Keep the comments coming, this kind of awareness is exactly what we need.

I’m confused then because the UI also states you cannot queue for random battlegrounds while in a raid group. So it should be called Random No Raid Battlegrounds then, right?

No, it would be called “random battlegrounds” because “random” refers to the map selection, not the size of your group

Additional limitations inside random battlegrounds have nothing to do with the word “random”

“specific battlegrounds” have all the same limitations that randoms do, but the map isn’t random… It’s specific

I guess random battlegrounds can just mean whatever people want it to mean so long as it goes with their complaining. Why can’t I go into every BG with 5 rows of world buffs? I THOUGHT THIS WAS RANDOM
