Yeah a lot of the story has been kinda head scratching, and I definitely did not like the idea of beating the Legion just to go into another war; but in hindsight the narrative makes sense knowing what we do about Sylvanas, the Jailer, and the entire undeath condition Frostmourne caused now, I recommend at least seeing the entire thing before breaking out the torches and marching on the castle.
My sole request, because I am really tired of seeing the character ignored is this.
If Tyrande is going to “judge” Sylvanas, can we seriously have Malfurion on hand? The dude is so underused even as a bystander despite kinda being a huge deal in Tyrande’s story.
Both of them are inseparable and have been for 10,000+ years. He ‘would’ be present for any such scenario and I’d argue that excluding him really would be actual bad writing, just like Tyrande being excluded entirely from any arcs involving Illidan and Malfurion.
Since I know someone also will raise the ridiculous point, I’ll also preface my post with this. Anyone making the claim “Malfurion isn’t in the Shadowlands” should bear in mind that the same logic would apply to Taelia too then. It’s clear people can and are crossing over so there is no excuse really.
The fact that we haven’t seen any Malfurion presence with Tyrande’s LIFE on the line, is outright a disservice to the character Metzen wrote. Ignoring such connections like Malfurion and Tyrande’s love for each other would be a tremendous and big literary blunder. Far more than Tyrande and Shandris hugging Sylvanas and saying “All is forgiven”.
…And I know Malfurion’s gender has 0 to do with his noticeable absence. …Right?
Last but not least, call me morbid or a glutton for snark; but where ‘is’ Nathanos?
He’s still in the Plaguelands.
Tyrande crit him so he feigned death. She left and he was fine. He said he unsubbed until 10.0.
Nathanos is playing FF14 with Khadgar.

In truth, Malfurion should be there. Nathanos should be there, somehow. I’m sure Tyrande beheading him in Blizzard’s mind is no meaningful setback to Nathanos, not with Blizzard at the helm.
I guess you didn’t see the new blue armor in 9.2.
I think it’s more that he’s started to eat the crayons and we’re getting what passes through.

It’s a pretty common trope for a character driven by vengeance to realize it is consuming their humanity and not kill the one behind it when given the chance. If some of you weren’t blinded by just hating everything the second it comes out you’d see this has as much to do with one character as another.

You do realize that Blizzard, especially Danuser, tries to write meaningfully engaging and morally quanderous stories and… fails?
To date, Blizzard HAS NOT made Thanos, or Zovaal, in game, mean anything?
Not a SINGLE retcon to try and turn Zovaal, Blizzard’s knock off Thanos, into a real threat?
