In all fairness to your argument. I honestly wish the OP linked the timestamp to the video where Preach made his comment and also talked about how Master Loot. Then you could directly engage with the talking point.
It’s not about following Preach or x streamer, it’s about listening to their talking points and points of contention.
Then don’t respond at all. You’re not the target audience of the post. They made it clear what they were talking about and even gave one of the final talking points of the video. In other words they wanted to discuss the topics with others who had seen the video.
If you had no intention of watching it, then they weren’t talking to you in the first place.
And let’s not pretend like the thread wouldn’t devolve into people focusing on whoever the Youtube celebrity is as well…
If the OP posted the ideas of the video without mentioning preach, GD would accuse him of just parroting the video.
If the OP posted the ideas and gave credit to preach, GD would accuse him of trying to get preach views.
IF the OP posted specifically asking what people thought of the video… GD accuses him of not providing his own words on the topic.
There is no winning. Either go watch the video and contribute to the conversation, or just don’t click on the thread.
As someone who tries to engage with the community, most people don’t want a discussion. They just want to vent. And most players (youtubers and streamers included) are incapable of having a very deep dive into the core issues.
Seconding this, but also…we did this without Flex mode. When we brought in PUGs, usually just 1, we would often throw most of the gear their way since we weren’t doing progression anymore.
I’ve also formed an alt group and typically had to PUG 1-2 people each week. We played fair and didn’t restrict loot UNLESS it was extremely rare, like the random Dragon Soul trinkets: BLF, VoS, and CotC. We even let them roll as equals for Blazing Drakes (saw 2 overall with that group).
Of that core of 7-9 folks, I’m friends with 4 of them still. We play PoE sometimes and the dudes are totally chill. Only 2 of us were ever guildmates. The others were just friends we met playing a game.
Master loot was not a huge point he made. Yes, he made that point, but it was much more about class design, the feel of combat and poor implementation of systems.
I get it, that’s very logical what you said right there.
If I wanted to comment on the video - or if anyone else wanted to - they could go watch it and comment there. Youtube is quite clever about providing that option. I didn’t criticise the post mentioning the video, I simply said I don’t need to watch it personally, to form an opinion.
