too soon?.?
way too soon.
it would be counter-productive to release both at the same time. The beta is there to iron out bugs and test systems, most of which is beyond the access of what will be playable in the pre-patch.
Plus they would have to constantly update the live build along with the beta builds. Lot of extra work for no benefit
I dont think they would have to update both.
They could release the beta into the client but just turn off everything but Paladins / shamans, professions and the talent trees. The rest of the patch can be released with a single update at time of release.
id imagine its a bit more complicated than that.
plus it would mean the pre-patch would go for much longer than pre-patches typically do
The first few weeks of beta testing should be focused on getting the prepatch stable enough to release… as in it should almost be a PTR type thing.
Once stable for 60 release it and then do the TBC testing.
Everyone keeps saying current Classic and TBC Classic will be different clients. How are they going to release Paladins and Drenei on the Classic client? Will Classic era servers then be rolled back when TBC launches? Will progressive and era servers be a thing during the Prepatch then?
Just thinking about the prepatch makes me think it will be a bit of an undertaking logistically with the splitting of servers and stuff. Blizzard probably doesn’t have all the details ironed out yet and is why they haven’t given a date.
