I think the thing that is so weird about all of this is that the people who are getting all up in arms about things like this aren’t actually upset. They’ve just been told to be upset by some YouTube weirdos and a disgraced, Kermit the Frog sounding professor.

If I refer to male or female I don’t mean to make someone upset. That’s simply just how I refer to people in game. They can be upset and that’s fine but I’m not gonna go “watch me make this loser feel bad” everyone’s got their own beliefs and that’s fine but not everyone should be forced to conform to that just to help the 1% feel better. Or just be respectful about it and I’d have no problem changing what I say for someone I play with on a daily basis. If some rando gets mad about it that isn’t my problem.

Honestly never once referred to a person or avatar as male or female in my life.
“what are those males doing over there. I dunno let’s go hangout with the females” - weird
“What is that male doing over there” - also strange
“What are they doing?” - referring to a person you don’t know - normal, common useage
“How are they?” - referring to someone you know - common usage.
A lot of language is already gender neuter. I’ve just fallen back to using they/them for the most part. Not a single person has been offended by me doing that either. Curious.

Honestly, this might be a win. Maybe we can filter out guild applications based on whether or not they chose They/Them. Prevents a lot of guild drama in the future to have some filters LOL.

To me, it’s not about conforming it’s just about respect when directly talking to someone. That doesn’t mean you accept their ideology or believes. What you say when you’re not around them is up to you.

I’m gonna clue you in on something but most people who use different pronouns don’t give a fig what randos think either. I know several nonbinary people and they don’t bother correcting people in stores or whatever. It’s just not worth the effort.
If you’d actually use the right pronouns when someone you deal with regularly requests it then you’re already doing it right, no changes necessary. Good on you.
hard to explain mechanics to someone who doesn’t even want to have an honest conversation and stops listening when you say the wrong pronouns
